Should there be boycotts, blacklists, firings or de facto shunning of those who supported Proposition 8?
That's the issue consuming many in liberal Hollywood who fought to defeat the initiative banning same-sex marriage and are now reeling with recrimination and dismay. Meanwhile, activists continue to comb donor lists and employ the Internet to expose those who donated money to support the ban.
Already out is Scott Eckern, director of the nonprofit California Musical Theatre in Sacramento, who resigned after a flurry of complaints from prominent theater artists, including "Hairspray" composer Marc Shaiman, when word of his contribution to the Yes on 8 campaign surfaced.
Other targets include Film Independent, the nonprofit arts organization that puts on both the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Spirit Awards; the Cinemark theater chain; and the Sundance Film Festival.
For many in Hollywood, the Proposition 8 backlash represents a troubling clash of free speech, religious beliefs and the right to fight intolerance. Many supporters of same-sex marriage view the state constitutional amendment as codified bigotry, a rollback of civil liberties for gays and lesbians.

Are you, or have you ever been, a supporter of prop 8?
What intolerance? A gay man and a gay woman can get married just like any hetro couple.
“If it don’t fit, don’t force it.”
One thing I’m grateful for is since Obama won none of the Hollywood stars will leave the US - go back to Canada or where ever ... especially Danny Glover ..../s/off
One of the best South Parks of all time.
Homosexuals want to affirmed in their fantasy that homosexuality is normal. It is not. It is a form of sexual perversion. Just because people have been had decades of “pride” about their perversion does not change that. The fact people can be “in love” in a same-sex relationship means very little in this debate, which the “gay” crowd seems to think. Or should we call them the “hate” crowd. They’re not very gay anymore.
“Cinemark is under siege because Chief Executive Alan Stock gave $9,999 to support the same-sex marriage ban. And in a sign of a powerful ripple effect, Sundance, perhaps the American institution that has done the most to support gay filmmakers and gay cinema, is being targeted because it screens films in a Cinemark theater.”
Whew, that’s a relief. I really feared that possibly Redford had gone round the bend and was actually supporting something worthwhile. Not to worry, though. Sundance is guilty merely because of whom it associates with (<<<hey, wait a minute here).
We always knew they were the thugs they accused us of being. And bigots. So why shouldn’t they show their true colors? Let the world know how they treat those who think differently then they do...
What they want is absolutely no moral differentiation between their hookups and traditional marriage.
These are the people who have derided the evil of Blacklists for decades. Now they are blantently drawing up their own (before it was done in secret). Quite the hypocritical dilemmma. Of course, they’ll get around it by saying that its okay because their CAUSE IS JUST.
But unlike homosexuals, heterosexuals can marry anyone they want...(unless it is against the law, like a sibling, or a parent, or a child, or someone underage, or two people at the same time...)
Nevermind...
forget blacklisting gay people, they are not the problem, the problem is the communists hiding in hollywood.
This is great. It’s nice to see the Hollywood idiots torn on the moral preaching they engage in on some issues. Same-sex marriage has been a cause which almost all Hollywood idiots are in favor of, just as almost all are in favor of fighting global warming. It’s nice to see that they have some nuances to deal with. Not everything is a black white issue.
