Palin's star burns brightly as Oprah calls

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Oprah wants her, and so do Letterman and Leno. Fresh from her political defeat, Sarah Palin is juggling offers to write books, appear in films and sit on dozens of interview couches at a rate that would be astonishing for most Hollywood stars, let alone a first-term governor.

By appearing on any of them she would be promoting the state of Alaska, doing the job of a governor.

But the hell with Letterman. He's a horse's ass.

Palin will look like a publicity hound if she starts making the talk show circuit. If she wants to be a viable candidate in 2012, she needs to be very careful where she shows herself in public. She needs to focus on being Governor, making policy speeches at energy seminars, or universities. No glamor stuff. She needs to get and stay serious.

She certainly won’t lob any softballs to the Governor like she did the Community Organizer.

“Sheesh. When is she going to do the job she is being paid for. That should be the question. Obviously Alaska is running pretty well with her gone for three months. It must be an easy state to run.”

She’s in Alaska doing Governor things right now. What’s your problem?

Palin's star burns brightly as Oprah calls

Now that Oprah's gotten her guy elected, she's all smiles and open-arms towards Sarah Palin. Tell Oprah to take her show and shove it, Sarah...

I'd be more than tempted to say "thanks, but no thanks" considering how she was treated and likely will be again. On the other hand, she could reach a lot of people who would see her in a much more friendly light without all of the election politics going on.

Whatever she does, I hope it all leads to her return to national politics in 2012. She has more than enough time to prepare, work on her weaknesses and decide how to campaign for the nomination if she wants to run. She could have some worthy competition for the presidential nomination and a guaranteed to be nasty campaign fight with Obama.

Memo to Sarah: Write the book(s) first, then go on Oprah, Letterman, Leno, etc. That way you can generate some coin for your 2012 run, and hawk your book at the expense of Oprah, Dave and Jay.

She should politely decline Oprah and Letterman. As for the rest, she should be very hard to obtain an interview with.

Palin should lead by example and do her job as governor. If she continues to play media star it will turn off those who are looking for someone who walks the walk rather than being a media darling. Obviously, the media is interested now that she lost. But they tried to chop her at the knees when it was a race. She should do her job and beef up her conservative credentials and resume.

DON’T DO IT SARAH!!
Sorry to say, it’s a trap!
AGAIN!
Attend to your duties as Governor of Alaska, which has
some NEW problems, relating to oil.
The Media will trap her in a no-win situation:
if she politely tells all of them she has no time
to do interviews, they’ll all say “Well, we tried, but she’s too good for us apparently.”
If she goes on Letterman, Leno, or Oprah, she’ll be talked
about (by them probably) as a camera hog who’s just in it
for the celebrity, and they’ll loudly wonder why she’s not
taking care of her state and her large family.
Allowing herself to get sucked into the MSM vortex again
as she was with Couric and Gibson notably, has one major
objective: to destroy her chances with the electorate for
any future political career on the national stage. they’re so congenitally hostile to her they’ll be about as able to conceal their contempt as that fool Charlie Gibson
showed when he literally looked down his nose at her through granny glasses and wrinkled up his mouth at every opportunity. She should be making her own decisions now,
and SHE DOES NOT NEED THE SAME MEDIA THAT IS PRETENDING IT
WANTS TO MAKE UP TO HER AND EMBRACE HER NOW THAT SHE’S A “LOSER”. GOd, I hate those people. She DOESN’T need them.
ALL she needs are the American people.

Palin should steer clear of these vultures. If she choses to run in ‘12 or ‘16, some film-clip will surface, showing something completely out of context.

That would be a legitimate way to go on the talk shows. Hawking a book with some serious content would be better than just going on Oprah ad hoc. Like you said. she could make some money at the same time. Maybe next year, when the book is published and #1 on the best seller list would be ok.

I second that. Oprah, Letterman, and the other Liberal Elites only want to rub Sarah's nose in her defeat, nothing more...she'll only become fodder for the late night talk shows and SNL.

...So I too, would say no, and with dignity.

It appeared to me that Palin was starting to get hooked on her fame. The SNL appearance confirmed it.

No Letterman, small audience of mostly potheads and other addicts. No Oprah, large audience but mostly housewives drunk on chardonnay.

I agree. Palin is turning herself into a joke, and every appearance removes more and more credibility.
