Businesses cut prices at a record rate, and builders started fewer new homes last month than anytime on record, according to new government data, as the outlook for the economy continues to dim.

The data helped spur another terrible day for the stock market Wednesday, as did a projection of more hard times ahead by leaders of the Federal Reserve. A serious recession now appears all but assured.

....The stock market is reacting to a Marxist named Soros taking over the US and investors are smartly moving there money to more stable overseas locations...

If the money is really moving overseas, how come the Euro has changed from 0.68 to 0.80, the pound from 0.54 to 0.68 and the Swiss franc from 1.10 to 1.22 - all in the last 8 weeks?

Doesn't this show that the $$ is preferred over these other currencies?

We are in bad shape, but they are worse...

to be honest, you have to admit that zero has been running for two years, using his driveby influence on his minions in congress....

you have to admit that congress has been in rat hands for two years....

you have to admit that there were people that tried to stop the subprime crisis but were laughed at by the rats....

and you have to admit, that if we had held onto either the Senate or the House that things would be a lot rosier now, we'd probably have had some meaningful reform.....

but no......the "true" conservatives stayed home in protest....they handed the Congress to the rats and now they have the audacity to sit here and complain that the economy is going to hell ....

look in the mirror.....those who allowed the likes of Pelosi and Reid and Dodd and Barney to take leadership roles are the ones who are responsible.....we had a chance to prevent some of this crisis but some were just too stubborn and irrationally pigheaded to do the right thing....

its the likes of some here that we have an Alfrankenstein even close in Minn.

I doubt that we will be in a recession very long, but the depression will take a very long time to get out of.

It’s not good to be poor, but it’s survivable.

My daughter owns her own business. She has 14 full time employees that support 14 families in our community. She is looking at a RIF of 6 in the next few weeks. It’s going to be a very tough winter for some folks.

If you put a jobs program on the border the Mexicans will either get the jobs directly or get the lessor jobs of Americans that get the jobs.

Then we could employ even more Americans as border guards to keep the hordes out.

“Then you should get the hell out of Wisconsin.”

Nope. This is home. I plan to stay and fight for another 10 years or so. Them we’ll retire elsewhere after the parents we care for (five) and the pets we have die. :)

The Garden Center I manage is on the edge of “the hood.” That explains a lot about the qualified candidates available for hire around here. *Rolleyes* If you build it (a socialist mecca) they WILL come.

In reality, I’d rather sweep the floor myself and take out the trash than throw any more ‘tax-dollars via employees’ into the socialist kitty.

Good. The important thing is that you have a PLAN. ;)
