For years, little would upset liberals more than the suggestion they were less patriotic than other Americans. The crowd spewing "Bush-Hitler-Genghis-Khan-baby-killers-AmeriKKKa-Ho-Ho-Ho-Chi-Minh"? Great patriots, all. Bill Ayers trampling a flag? Dissent is patriotic, dude.
But now that Barack Obama has been elected, comes an admission, unintended as it may be. Yeah, maybe we weren't so much before, but it's cool to be patriotic. Now. Such can be seen in Derrick Z. Jackson's Boston Globe column of today, 'It's OK to be an American now." From Jackson's opening paragraph [emphasis added]:
"Before Obama's victory speech in Chicago, the crowd of 125,000 people said the Pledge of Allegiance. In my 53 years I have never heard such a multicultural throng recite the pledge with such determined enunciation, expelling it from the heart in a treble soaring to the skies and a bass drumming through the soil to vibrate my feet."

Liberals feeling patriotic ping to Today show list.
FUBO
My nephew was gonna re-up for another four years in the Air Force had McCain won....
Instead, he is ending his military service ... and will return to civilian life.
Can’t say I blame him actually. I’m sure it’s a tough choice for him...
Fair weather Americans? Sorry, get back on the commie side of the fence, jerks. We already know what you are.
According to the fat lady in the pants suit it is patriotic to debate and criticize ANY administration.
Well, you can be sure I will be taking her advice and showing my patriotism by criticizing O every chance I get.
I have two nephews in Iraq who say the same thing.
Sad, because the military is losing some really bright folks and what will happen is we will lose the folks who want to join the military and possibly forced into a draft if Obama mucks things up as bad as I fear he will.
And he’s already said he was for drafting women.
“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.” -Mrs.O
It’s unpatriotic to bring that up ;-)
Anti Government Extremist" tag line.

My niece and nephew voted for Zero. My sister nearly in a state of panic when I told her that Zero might re-institute the draft, even for women. She sputtered...but he is going to send everybody home from Iraq. Tough ta-tas I say. Too bad for the real heros that enlisted though.
Mr. Z. is just one more cowardly Liberal living free under the protection of those he loathes. Just one more scummy hypocrite whose life is consumed by self-hating victimization in the one society in which he is free to do so. Just one more really bad writer who has a job only because other Leftists give him one. It must truly suck to be he.
Liberals are fair weather friends. They have no loyalties, no convictions, no love.
For eight years these people have been telling me that “dissent is patriotic,” so who am I to disagree with them?
My definition of unpatriotic is not defending our Constitution. Liberals are all unPatriotic. Led by their king, “The Constitution is a flawed document” and a document of “negative rights” Obama.
They're ripping off their Obama bumperstickers pretty quickly.
What a difference a typo makes in HTML.
well, he’s outdone himself. This is the ultimate pile of fecal matter from Derrick. And the mountain of fm he’s produced since I started glancing at his stupid columns is higher than Everest’s. Jackson and his hero Obama understand nothing about the country they live in. They don’t know why America is great and how it was made great. And they’ll go to their graves still not knowing why.
I can’t stand these race pimps.
There is another one that writes for USA Toady that just sets my hair on end.
