Just over the transom, the McClintock campaign is claiming victory, saying that their new lead is greater than the number of ballots left to be counted.
Here's the email from McClintock campaign Communications Director Bill George:
Vote Tally Mathematically Ensures McClintock Victory in Fourth Congressional District Race
Placer County today completed the process of counting absentee and provisional votes, and Tom McClintock gained 1,464 votes. The final Placer County tally gives McClintock a lead of 1,793 votes over Charlie Brown. With the vote tally completed in Placer and Nevada Counties, there is no mathematical way Charlie Brown can overtake McClintock's lead in the Fourth Congressional District election.
"The votes are almost all in and the result is no longer in doubt," said Bill George, McClintock for Congress communications director. "With the small number of votes remaining to be counted, there is no way Charlie Brown can overcome McClintock's lead. The Placer County vote total leaves no doubt that Tom McClintock has prevailed in this race and will represent the District in Congress," George said.
Following this I never understood why a candidate named “Charlie Brown” would draw so many votes. Sometimes names count, and he literally has a cartoonish name. This victory feels good, and I’m even optimistic about Coleman.
Agree completely! It's about time this count was finally done, been following it every day since Nov 4th -- the McClintock win makes it worth the wait!
"I also got an email from Congressman Ron Paul to support McClintock. Ive always been a McClintock booster, but it was nice to see that Ron Paul thought highly of him as well"
Got the same email. And with the negative ads run by Charlie Brown's campaign, characterizing McClintock as "a fat cat, carpetbagger", I believe that Ron Paul really helped McClintock win, especially in a race this close!
We’re as bad as the unions if seniority is all that is needed to be considered for leadership positions.
It is indeed excellent. Finally we’re getting people we need into positions of power. Should have started four years ago, but oh well.
Good point! Unfortunately, I think it’s true though. Certainly true in the Senate.
Congratulations, McClintock!!
Well done Tom! We need more men like him in power.
Wow, is it really OK to say nice things about Ron Paul on FR once again? ;)Give it a little time, Obama will bring people together. Especially conservatives. :)
I’d say Mclintock being a legislator is underqualifying him. He’d have done better as an executive.
Good news today.
The Soros pimp machine could not completely destroy goodness in Calipornia.
Excellent news. He’s just what we need to set up some new blood for 2010.
Make no mistake, the stakes now are huge. China is now a world power and likes to buddy up with the likes of North Korea and the Sudan (OBL’s hideout before Afghanistan). Iran has basically turned Lebanon into a puppet via Syria and Hezbollah. Our esteemed leaders have decided that the best way to fix a financial mess caused by government intervention (Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac) is more government intervention.
And The Messiah is going to fix this? Please.
But what do conservatives have to do with Run Paul the freespending surrender monkey? This is all happening so fast! ;-)
Ron Paul is an absolute loon and his followers are 9-11 truthers. Truth? LOL
Please
Georgia is still undecided. They are having a run off in a couple of weeks because no candidate got more than 50% of the votes.
I was wondering about Chambliss...good luck!
This is excellent! Another candidate to help take the party out of the ashes and on to a better day.
Make us proud, Mr. McClintock.
Wish Tom were governor, but I’m happy that he won this congressional seat. He has fought many a good fight, and its time he won. He’ll do us proud. He’s a good conservative man.
If a conservative is elected in our next presidential race, it would benefit us all if McClintock was appointed as one of the presidents advisers.
