WASHINGTON (AFP) – President-elect Barack Obama is set to appoint New York Federal Reserve chief Timothy Geithner as his Treasury secretary to take charge of fixing the parlous economy, a report said Friday.

Geithner will be unveiled as the incoming Treasury boss on Monday along with New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson as commerce secretary and other members of Obama's economic team, NBC News said.

The report by NBC anchor Andrea Mitchell, who is married to former Fed chairman Alan Greenspan, cheered depressed investors with New York's Dow Jones share average jumping about 500 points on the news.

I’m surprised Richardson is accepting Commerce. I would have thought that was a step down from governor.

More and more pciks by Obama, IMHO, to further his socialistic aims with a complicit congress.

OBAMA, THE STOCK MARKET, AND ENERGY

He’s been Energy Secretary before. I wouldn’t view Commerce as a step up.

Surprise...I thought he would have appointed some old line Marxist. Perhaps the market is telling him something and he is listening.

Well, at least we no longer have to worry about the prospect of higher taxes! Too bad the market wiped out much of the wealth Obama was going after.

No evidence that I have seen linking Geithner to socialism or ever having been called a socialist. There will no doubt be plenty of them in this administration but he isn’t one of them.

I used to work for the Fed in Boston. It would be difficult to find a more f-ed up organization anywhere else in the U.S.

On the “seniority list” Commerce is older than energy.........

And Richardson wants to be in the Cabinet meetings. If you’re in the room, you’re in on the big decisions. There are no small cabinet posts.

Just wants to get to a position where he can shine Obama's shoes, until Hillary screws up and he gets the job he really wants.

The liberal media of course has never reported that the market got depressed by Obama elections and lost 22% of its value since his elections.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The markets go down because of Bush and go up because Obama. Geithner is slightly better than the other vermin Obama has picked.

What’s most interesting to me is that he passed by on Larry Summers, proving that the feminazis have some clout with Barry. It will be interesting to use the transition period to study which groups Zero will pander to, and which ones he doesn’t feel like he owes anything to.

A detroit radio station called the Kenyan embassy after the election of Obama. After a lot of trouble they get through to the ambassador of Kenya.

The ambassador of Kenya says that obama was born in Kenya and that his birth place has become a national shrine.

Listen to the recording here

The quote is around 12:35, so if you don’t have time to listen to the whole thing, you can jump ahead.

Be sure to download the recording as well. The chances of it remaining online for long are remote.

If you have the skills to post it on Utube...please do.

The Arnold would have run for president long ago and likely won if he were a "natural born" american. He's not. He's naturalized. So he can't run. And he knows it. (though there were some trial balloons sent up a couple years back about changing the law.)

Like the Arnold, Obama looks to be a naturalized citizen--but maybe he's not even that.

In any case the supreme court--at Justice Thomas instigation-- is taking up the issue Dec 5

So the stock market soars when Obama does something.

When it goes down it’s because of Bush and the Republicans.

Got it.
