Hungry in Zimbabwe: `If you rest, you starve'

MHANGURA, Zimbabwe (AP) — Katy Phiri, who is in her 70s, picks up single corn kernels spilled from trucks that ferry the harvest to market. She says she hasn't eaten for three days.

Rebecca Chipika, a child of 9, prods a stick into a termite mound to draw out insects. She sweeps them into a bag for her family's evening meal.

These scenes from a food catastrophe are unfolding in Doma, a district of rural Zimbabwe where journalists rarely venture. It's a stronghold of President Robert Mugabe's party and his enforcers and informants are everywhere.

At a school for villagers visited by The Associated Press, enrollment is down to four pupils from 20. The teachers still willing to work in this once-thriving farming and mining district 160 miles northeast of Harare, the capital, say parents pay them in corn, cooking oil, goats or chickens. One trip by bus to the nearest bank to draw their government salaries costs more than teachers earn in a month.

This is happening while we are spending billions on the global warming hoax. And bailing out billionaires.

This is what happens when farms are taken from successful white farmers and given over to those who have no clue as to how to work the soil. Until they overthrow Mugabe, Zimbabwe will continue this way.

BTW, wealth was “redistributed” there, too.

“This is happening while we are spending billions on the global warming hoax.”

That’s because we have a (forgive me, I am nothing but a patriot) largely spoiled nad pampered population of idle millionaires who have way too much time on their hands.

Another example of a good country turned into a third world hell hole is South Africa.

When the smart and successful citizens are driven out of power by the stupid and greedy majority then this is what happens.

Look around you, this very well might be as good as America will ever get again, that trend has now washed up on our shores.

The tragedy is that the african people never seem to learn from their mistakes. To them, yesterday didn’t happen and tomorrow doesn’t exist.

Zimbabwe has some of the best farming land in the entire world - it USED TO BE the breadbasket of Africa before white farmers were driven out by the progressive candidate for change - Robert Mugabe.

A solution? It won’t be heeded, so Jewish tradition says I shouldn’t offer it. But, in this case, and since it’s a general forum, I will.

When African nations send their best and brightest to U.S. Universities, have them major in agricultural studies and not Marxism or Social Justice. Farming is a real skill, the reason “farmers” are mocked was a deliberate effort on behalf of our govt and our “betters” to gain complete control over the farming industry - lessons from Bereishis!

So, send young Kwame Mgudulfe to Texas A&M or Iowa State to major in Agriculture or some farming related field. Learn to farm people, it’s a skill that needs to be learned but once it’s learned it’s all good!

This is where Communism “lite” and Tribalism ends up, the graveyard for those forced to live under such tyranny.

Now watch, Obamao will shovel money into Mugabe’s Zimbabwae, and he will use it to purchase food and obtain total Control over the populace.

The real lesson in Africa is how easy it is for any two-bit dictator to keep a populace in servitude when they are uneducated and unarmed.

Everyone is not the same ...

The parents of a friend of mine have done peace corps work in Africa. In one village the father made a tire swing which the people enjoyed. Every time it broke he would hang it up again while the people watched. So the parents left for a long time - like maybe a year or two - and when they came back they saw that the tire swing had broken again and the rope and tire were laying on the ground. Not one person had the initiative to throw the rope over a limb and tie it to the tire.

i think most of the less passive people migrated north out of Africa a long long time ago.

at least everything is now owned and controlled by blacks so Zimbabwe is not even on the radr scope for human rights organzations

so cheer up, Zimbabwe could be in much worse condition-

it could still be a relatively prosperous nation of opportunity for all, albeit fed and financially supported by a small number of 3-4-5-6 generation indigenous white farmers and trained and technically operated (logistics etc) by a small number of 3-4-5-6 generation indigenous white tech people- THEN the human rights people would be picketing
