Green Week is upon us again, time for more global warming scare-mongering by the NBC family of networks. Kicking things off during half-time of last night's NBC Sunday Night Football, Meredith Vieira put Al Gore's alarmism to shame. [H/t reader Mick L.]
Gore predicted a measly 20-foot rise in sea levels, enough to drown much of Manhattan. Vieira outdid him by a factor of 10, raising the spectre of a sea-level rise of 200 feet. That exaggerates the increase predicted by scientists by literally hundreds of times.
Vieira, speaking from Sydney, Australia, where she is focusing on water shortages, chatted with Bob Costas.
BOB COSTAS: Where are Matt, Al and Ann this go-around?
MEREDITH VIEIRA: Matt [Lauer] is in Belize, he's off the coast at a place called the Blue Hole. It is the home to some of the most exotic marine life in the world, and all sorts of beautiful coral reefs and they're all being threatened because the water temperatures are rising.
Al [Roker] on the other hand is in Iceland looking at the glaciers which store most of our fresh water. And if they were to melt, the oceans could rise at least 200 feet.
And our intrepid reporter Ann Curry, well she is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as I speak. She hopes to reach the summit by Friday. The snows of Mount Kilimanjaro are rapidly melting, and that is threatening the people of Tanzania.

NEVER make fun of the flying monkeys.
I feel like I'm stuck in a chapter of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World with the bulk of the voters being Epsilon semi morons.
Greenland’s ice sheet and most of Antarctic ice sheets are on land.......
NO it did NOT.
The hero coach, Jim Zorn, who recently hosted Rush Limbaugh lost to the Planned Parenthood supporting Cowboys.
The refs missed a bunch of calls. Cartwright clearly had possession of the ball before letting go and rolling into the end zone. As soon as the punting team gains possession of the punt, the ball is placed at that spot. The Cowboys clearly jumped offsides at least twice--not called. Portis was clearly out of bounds (would have stopped the clock)... T.O. was clearly blocking in the back and Columbo and Adams where clearly grabbing all kinds of Jersey and wrapping with their arms on the final drive.....
SNF is a ridiculous agenda driven mental illness fest now. Unwatchable. As soon as there’s commentary on goes the mute button.
when I watched this on TV, I too, laughed out loud.
Keith Overbite said he’s doing his part by not drinking bottled water.
200 feet? I thought it was 200 meters?
See my #26. Even if it was 20’ instead of 200’ we’re talking about 5 million cubic miles of Ice (above the water line) melting.
Ok, I'll say it... And we're supposed to think that's a BAD thing??
Aw Come On...Can we get 2000 feet?
Heartlanders will not worry until the water floods the Midwest and Central Plains.....
200 feet! That’s great! I always wanted to go white water rafting over the Niagara.
NBC is a disgrace and owned by one of the world’s largest polluters, General Electric. Before lecturing the people on the environment and flying their mouthbreathing correspondents all around the world, they should reexamine their employer’s extensive polluting history.
