Gingrich says Palin will not be the future GOP leader By Alexander Bolton Posted: 11/16/08 01:05 PM [ET]
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) is batting down the hype that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin heads into 2012 as the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination.
Palin energized the Republican base after GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) tapped her as his running mate and she has tried to preserve her high public profile since Election Day.
But Gingrich, an architect of the Republican revolution of 1994, took Palin down a notch, asserting that she would not become the partys leader, as some have predicted.
I think that she is going to be a significant player, said Gingrich during an interview on CBSs Face the Nation. But shes going to be one of 20 or 30 significant players. Shes not going to be the de facto leader.
Since the defeat of the GOP ticket, Palin has pursued an aggressive media strategy, scheduling a full slate of interviews to keep her face on television.

Gingrich has a lot of capability but his ego sometimes echoes Clinton’s. What happens will not likely be decided by him.
How about fighting for OUR side for a change? You know, maybe try and HELP get a real conservative elected?
Let’s hope not. While I was happy when she was selected, I was extremely disappointed in due time. She is not presidential timber.
How about we pick someone who’s smart, ARTICULATE, and conservative next time?
I like her. She does have high negatives now, I’m sure.
yes, I am for real conservatives like Jindal and Sanford.
Good question.
There is a reason why we like Palin. She's one of us, and we don't see any other politicians out there who fit the bill.
But not for real conservatives like Palin? Seems rather short sighted of you...
Articulate like uh..um.. what I..uh..the notion that.. umm ..Barama...
As of right now, Jindahl and Palin are the lead dogs going into 2012, no one else is even worth mentioning at this point. Now 4 years is a long time so that can certainly change, but at this point they certainly are the leaders.
Precious few.
She also needs to be in the lower 48 campaigning for Republicans in 2010 and help us win back some seats.
Do the RINO thing if you want too. I wont stop you. But you and people like you have only damaged the GOP.
And Newt has become a feckless, RINO-fied globalist hack whose only function these days has been to kneecap conservatism.
Oklahoma’s close primary system was taken all the way to SCOTUS who ruled we can continue to have closed primaries. Every GOP Chair should be behind closed GOP primaries and put Iowa, NH, and Michigan at the back of the pack. Why are we allowing those states to essentially pick our nominee?
...And sell it all on E-BAY!
Palin is a populist who raised taxes. She supported the bailout. I want a real fiscal conservative.
theres one thing that make me less enthused bout palin, that is, she support the bailout.

I am not sure that choice was all hers to make. She was running on the ticket with McCain.
I think if she voiced any dissent, it would have sent a lightening rod through the campaign. Ashes would have been left. MSM would still be talking about it.
It does bother me still that any Conservative would have voted for it.
Newt, you forfeited your credibility signing on with the global warming fraud. Please share your opinions with your new friends on the left. Maybe whisper to Pelosi the next time you share a couch to scam the American public out of more tax dollars.
He's certainly NO conservative. He's leaned decidedly toward the center and become a pragmatic Party-over-Principle globalist.
