Pawlenty Raises "Moderate" Flag at RGA (We've got another McCainiac RINO in our midst)
Human Events ^ | November 14, 2008 | Jack Thompson

The “Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012” appears to be Minnesota’s Tim Pawlenty. Pawlenty used his time at yesterday’s roundtable discussion to cast himself as the “modern” Republican while casting aspersions on the traditional conservative message, calling for outreach to the “new demographics,” deriding the GOP for allegedly being 15 years behind in the use of the Internet, and calling for the party not to be led by “a crank.” Pawlenty appears to have John McCain’s penchant for attacking conservatives rather than those in the other party.

Pawlenty in Miami was publicly angry, agitated, and even cranky, possibly because he found himself at odds with the far more conservative tone of every other speaker here. Hundreds of RGA members, who paid thousands of dollars to attend this Conference, wildly applauded “red meat” conservative pronouncements by speakers and not the more moderate and conservative-jabbing words by Pawlenty. And then there’s his “Palin problem,” real or imagined, that hit the fan yesterday in front of the national media, possibly upon the insistence of Pawlenty himself, as the above-reported comments to CNN by an anonymous presidential aspirant indicate.

"Pawlenty used his time at yesterday’s roundtable discussion to cast himself as the “modern” Republican while casting aspersions on the traditional conservative message,..."

I'll stick with the good ol'fashioned idea that the Founding Fathers' built this country upon: limited federal government.

I would give a look to Pawlenty. Otherwise the Republican Party will be restricted to the Old Confederacy and some of the Western states. Mitch Daniels is also well-positioned.

Naw, the “traditionalists” got a lock on the fascist stuff, so we don’t want to go there. Something more forward looking ~ like “........” or maybe “............”, or possibly Tesoro Iron Dog Racing Team!

No compromise on the right to life, marriage, civil unions, border security, free speech, and the right to keep and bear arms is a good start.

I was never sold on Pawlenty as a conservative. This guy is getting rolled by the Democrats in Minnesota as they steal the Senate race right before his eyes. He is either unwilling or unable to put up a fight.

..and immediately, after the truncated press conference, the pundits were attacking Governor Palin as the one who wouldn't answer questions.

God bless her... she gets hit from both sides!

I'm thinking 3rd party too....with Sarah leading the charge.

Forget a third party. We need a second one...

;-)

I will support a party that subscribes to this truth. Please let me know when we have one again.

His state may have Al Franken as a senator, forgodsakes. The fact that race was even close proves he is of no use to us.

For real. The R leadership seems determined to be the “Me Too” party, and we the grassroots can apparently just take a hike. Funny they don’t seem to notice how many did just that in this election and the 2006 one.

Maybe Timmy should have stayed in Minnesota and tried to stop Al Frankenfurter from stealing Norm Coleman’s job.

your path=George W. Bush= failure.

You were a strong advocate of G.W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, and look where you led us.

We’ll know how “conservative” Pawlenty is or becomes as we get close to 2012, solely based on how much the press puts him out there, like they did Mac before attacking him after getting the nom.

Pawlenty, Crist and Arnie need to just switch parties.

I agree. The same goes for all moderate, liberal and RINO so-called Republicans. We’ll be a lot better off without them betraying our party at every step.

calling for the party not to be led by “a crank.”

While Pawlenty was the National Co-Chair Of McCain 2008 Committee for cranky McCain's White House run.
