The California secretary of state should refuse to allow the state's 55 Electoral College votes to be cast in the 2008 presidential election until President-elect Barack Obama verifies his eligibility to hold the office, alleges a California court petition filed on behalf of former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and others.
The legal action today is just the latest is a series of challenges, some of which have gone as high as the U.S. Supreme Court, over the issue of Obama's status as a "natural-born citizen," a requirement set by the U.S. Constitution.
WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi even traveled to Kenya and Hawaii prior to the election to investigate issues surrounding Obama's birth. But his research and discoveries only raised more questions.
The biggest question is why Obama, if a Hawaii birth certificate exists, simply hasn't ordered it made available to settle the rumors.

If he was adopted by Lolo Soetoro in 1966 in Hawaii his original long form birth certificate would have been sealed and he himself would need a court order to unseal it. Hawaiian birth certificates at the time had a spot on them at the time for “Country of Birth” although we do not know who registered the birth! Could Grandma have registered the birth or did Ann saying he was born at home? We simply do not know.
TV of Course.
On a chilly January afternoon in 2005
PoliticalWire "You know," he said quietly, "I hope you don't mind me giving you a piece of advice."
"Not at all, Mr. President." He nodded. "You've got a bright future," he said. "Very bright. But I've been in this town a while and, let me tell you, it can be tough. When you get a lot of attention like you've been getting, people start gunnin' for ya. And it won't necessarily just be coming from my side, you understand. From yours, too. Everybody'll be waiting for you to slip. Know what I mean? So watch yourself."
"Thanks for the advice, Mr. President."
"All right. I gotta get going. You know, me and you got something in common."
"What's that?" "We both had to debate Alan Keyes. That guy's a piece of work, isn't he?"
I laughed, and as we walked to the door I told him a few stories from the campaign.
It wasn't until he had left the room that I realized I had briefly put my arm over his shoulder as we talked -- an unconscious habit of mine, but one that I suspected might have made many of my friends, not to mention the Secret Service agents in the room, more than a little uneasy.
--------------------------------------
This sounds very much like the president made the statement, the way I read it.
Bump for Alan Keyes. May the chickens come home to roost!
Nope but they can make a statement, your argument is boring.
LOL sorry about the formatting I take the easy way with a gibbled arm. As I mentioned last night I shattered my upper right arm and take as many shortcuts as possible including formatting!(I am right handed) My mind is usually running about 50 miles per hour as I remember what I am talking about and trying to convey it to others. A teacher I am not!
I don’t have a TV.
Just taped conversation when GW and the One got together las week. It was played on TV.
It didn't happen recently, if it happened at all. According to Obama in the Audacity of Hope, it was a private conversation, and this is his memory of it. Rather self-serving on his part, I might add, since he uses GWB to diss Alan Keyes, who was his recent opponent, and is still on his case.
I am trying to set the record straight. There is no proof that Bush said this in 2005 or at all.
It was fun (for a while) debating this issue with you but you’ve become tiresome. I’m done now.
Take good care.
Chief likes it because he is more familiar and involved in the story. For someone else, less familiar, less invested, it would be difficult to follow the phrase by phrase scrutiny. It is a thing rarely seen done. If I had to teach it to a class of older high schoolers or adults it would take at least an hour, maybe two periods. With college students it would depend on the class, might be able to get through it in less than a period.
The point is that the article being analyzed is itself suspect for being an attempt to cloud some issues. To make it seem that the issue has been considered and resolved, when actually there are many questions open.
Did Obama'a mom actually ever live with Obama Sr.? That's one question. Were they ever married? That's a second question. How can we resolve such questions?
I don't know, but I do know that the reporter did not resolve them, and by reading the article carefully it is seen that the reporter was gathering facts that opened up more questions, yet was reluctant to admit that facts did not fit a simple narrative and were becoming incoherent with the marriage narrative.
If history is any indication the response will be “I am not taking this test.”
LOL I have to admit that history is a love of mine and I found this case very interesting for the lack of information. I would dearly love a trip to Hawaii to do some investigating but alas it is beyond me! I thank you for your compliment.(If only you knew how often I had to hit the back case key to correct spellings and missed letters, I am not ambidextrous except when typing and miss the agility of my former hand/arm. Stiffness and lack of range are definitely a problem!)
Do you or does anyone know if there are any actual records of either marriage or divorce of Stanley Anne Dunham and B. Obama Sr? Or if they can be viewed by the public?
I’ve never seen any actual records referred to or spocked...(seen, looked at).
If there are actual records of marriage or filings for divorce or granting of same, that would certainly fill in some of the time line.
Obumpa
Actually it was reported on TV recently, the way it was played made it easy to assume it was from last weeks meeting. I have posted elsewhere to you the source of the story, and include the link below again.
I can not testify, that they are the absolute truth, but I can't say that about nearly all printed news, or comments.
Link to PoliticalWire As you said quote was from Obamas book
Kind of odd for GWB to tell Obama (or anyone) that Keyes is a “piece of work” which is a very insulting thing to call anyone.
It is only Obama’s word as to what happened.
I will let you be the judge of that.
Just so I understand, and thanks for the further explanation, Obama is quoting GWB as saying the “piece of work” comment referring to Keyes. There is no actual audio of Bush saying it.
If that is the case, I am sure Obama is lying as that does not sound like Bush at all.
