Although a week has passed since California voters overturned that state's Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage, the state has felt numerous aftershocks as gay rights activists have mounted large-scale protests directed at supporters of Prop 8, specifically the Mormon church.
... Demonstrations outside Mormon temples were reported over the weekend throughout California and more are anticipated nationwide. The Mormon church, however, is not the only Prop 8 supporter coming under criticism for its role in the controversial election, as Catholics and Evangelical churches have seen protests, as well.
An estimated 10,000 gay-rights protesters gathered in San Diego, Calif. outside Saddleback Church. The church is home to Pastor Rick Warren...
... Catholic churches were also protested Sunday, and one protest in Michigan turned ugly.
A group of about 30 gay rights activists from the group "Bash Back!" stormed into Mount Hope Church in Lansing. Mich. and unfurled a large rainbow flag at the pulpit. The group also tried to disrupt the Mass by banging on cans and shouting "Jesus was a homo."

Say bye-bye to Philly Nomad.....

(I’ll get to pinging this evening, but not this thread! eeek!)
Yeah - I loved his post you sent me about how he described on the Free Republic forum about how to murder someone in the most effective way too.
I often wonder if the fanatical Left would be too upset if Christians stabbed, slashed, beat, decapitated, shot, bludgeoned, mutilated, splashed acid on, bombed, burned or otherwise retaliated against those who attacked and/or disrespected our God as others have attacked and/or disrespected the muslim god.
Moreover, are you claiming there is Freedom on the Religion Forum? Ha. You obviously have not posted there. Try entering into a debate about Mormonism there - and take the "con" side. See how far you get before you are either:
A. Attacked via Freepmail and on the Board or
B. Threatened by the Mormon Mod
By the way, I was physically threatened by one of the most Holy LDS members here. He is well known here, and his nickname is "Thug." He basically posted pictures and quotes from a 19th Century Mormon mass murderer named Orrin Porter Rockwell - and made it clear that he "wondered" if I would "enjoy" such a fate as his victims. When I finally complained, the Mods finally intervened, but only to basically say "Everyone Make Nice!" and left the offender on Free Republic. I was slapped down equally to him, and I never, ever made threats like that.

Then, when I posted the 19th Century Mass Murderers picture the following morning, I was mocked and jeered by one of the Mods - and then he/she deleted my post that provided a link and a picture of the Mormon "Destroying Angel of Mormondom" that the previous poster had threatened me with.
You don't have any idea of what you are talking about here. I suggest next time you post you listen and observe more.

I've made many posts on the Religion forum, as anyone who has been there may attest.
Imho, we are very, very fortunate to have both the forum and our Religion Mod.
I will leave it at that, with the suggestion that we might all thank God for what we have here on Free Republic.
Thank goodness.
It’s a sign.............
I appreciate FR as well. That is why I have been a member for over ten years.
What I don't appreciate is "Mods Gone Wild" in protection of what I believe is a cult that is leading people into Hell.
I don't know what your belief system is, but if you claim to be a servant of Christ, and you knowingly allow people who are following False Teaching to be led astray, what exactly does that make you?
And, what will God say to you about your courage, and your testimony for Him?
You take care.

I don't know what your religion is, but I respect your right to practice it.
I extend that right to others. Yes, even Mormons.
You take care, too.
Another Obamatic chew toy will appear.
He gone, oh darn.
I can see that you’re so disappointed.
There’s some out there that I can think of just off the top of my head. If you want some names, FReepmail me.
This thread =
You tell me...
True...
It beats trying to get a letter to the Editor published in most big city newspapers...
And we respect YOUR right to bash it.
What we DON'T like is being told that talking about religion can ONLY be done in one spot.
Christian.
I extend that right to others. Yes, even Mormons.
Nice try. I have never, ever, never denied anyone the right to worship a door knob if they want to. However, I will defend Truth until I die. There is only one Truth. Truth by definition is exclusive.
If a group is being fed lies under the veil of it being "Christian" - that is evil and demonic. I don't know what you believe, and you can believe anything you like. But, do you seek Truth?
If you post one more time on this thread, you will get a longer suspension than last time. We have a very simple rule - no dogmatic discussions on news threads unless the topic of the news thread is directly related to such. If you find that too confining, you can always set up your own website where you can post whatever you want. Oh, that’s right, doing such is a lot of work.
Mods gone wild - that is rich. Two rules are in play here - we try to prevent thread hijacks, and we don't allow dogmatic discussions in news threads unless it is directly related to the main topic (such as the one running right now about Mormon baptisms). This story is about attacks on Mormons for their support of Prop 8, which, last I checked, was largely supported by conservatives.
I am the moderator your crowd likes to call pro-Mormon. I hold no such views. I do believe as a moderator that the basic forum rules should be adhered to, and those who violate such extensively and repeatedly will get large numbers of posts removed. And there is a small group of opponents to Mormonism who repeatedly engage in such activities. If you find that too confining, please feel free to take it up with Jim - in the end, we document all of our actions and Jim follows what we do very closely.
