N.C. State student leaders lobby for hate crime act
RALEIGH, N.C. — There was a call for change Wednesday evening night at North Carolina State University. Student leaders came together to talk about passing the "Free Expression Tunnel Hate Crime Act" after classmates admitted to painting racist remarks about President-elect Barack Obama on the night of Nov. 4.
Two of the messages in N.C. State's "Free Expression Tunnel" said: "Let's shoot that (N-word) in the head" and "Hang Obama by a noose."

The way to handle this would have been to spray paint the graffiti, give the kids a stern talking to, and leave it at that. The kids did a stupid thing but do they really need a “Free Expression Tunnel Hate Crime Act”.
Of course Student Government is often high on the bogosity meter, but then again so is just plain Government.
NC State is a dumping ground for every political hack out of Raleigh, even Easeley’s wife landed a 167k a year position doing absolutely nothing but collecting a check.

What on earth is an “Expression Tunnel”? An underground passage where you can write suff on its walls?

I’d accuse the students of establishing thoughtcrime laws to attempt to shame them, but they’re too ignorant to understand the reference.
It’s a tunnel that goes under the railroad tracks that split the NC State campus.
Students have been allowed to paint graffiti on its walls for many years.
Thing is, this law, if adopted, will apply to anyone who speaks out against O, hateful or not. This will open Pandora’s Box and it will be open season on everyone who opposes O. If that happens, this nation will come apart thanks to O.
Hate speech by NC students is acceptable when it targeted Palin, Bush, Cheney, McCain but it is forbidden for Obama?
That is called fascism.
While I only support polite discourse, it is typical of liberals to censor dissent of their leaders.
Wasn't it just two short years ago that we were all told the movie, Assignation of a President, which featured a sitting President, the book and the play about shooting W were ALL innocent Free Expression! Instead of caving like Limp-wristed Brodhead, Oblinger should tell the race thugs to go pound salt.
NC State has handled the matter already.
When a group has to meet to determine what “free speech” is, there is no “free speech”.....
