BOSTON (Reuters) General Electric Co (GE.N) has secured the temporary backing of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp for up to $139 billion of the debt of its finance arm, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
"We are eligible now and included in the FDIC temporary liquidity guarantee program," said Russell Wilkerson, a spokesman for the U.S. conglomerate.

So now the fraudulant FDIC not only does banks, it also gives taxpayer money to corporations: WHY DON’T THESE A*HOLES JUST COME OUT AND DECLARE THEMSELVES A SOCIALST MASTERS OF THE WORLD; that way “we the people” can take up pitcforks, and muskets, and depose “our masters”.
“If Republicans were any good at economic policy, corporations wouldn’t be needing a rescue.”
I haven’t heard the ridiculous refrain “we’ll grow out of the deficit” lately.
PRAVDA’s ownership structure arrives sooner than expected.
Please pick up th white courtesy phone...
Its time to SHRUG!
Me too.
I must cultivate some acquantainces from Zimbabwe. They might be able to give me some friendly tips on how to get on.
GE is a very unpleasant company. I called them about a building they had for sale once. They were incredibly nasty.
Figures they have screaming scum like Olberman. I thought he was just on CNBC but he still does sports on NBC. I turned him off on NBC football games.
I am getting rid of Sat TV.
Just think about this bailout paying Olberman’s salary. It really stinks.
I think I'll get a book on North Korean cuisine - '100 Easy Tree Bark Recipes'.
GE is at the very top of my list of companies I will NEVER do business with again.
I will throw a party the day they announce bankruptcy.
Boycott these bastards
This is unbelievable...bailing out a company that dealt with Iran while we had soldiers in Iraq!! How is all this happening w/o the people’s consent!?
Goodness.
The fleecing of the Taxpayer is progressing at a rate much faster than once thought.
Unfortunately you're right. As the Bloomberg article notes, Inclusion in this program will allow us to source our debt competitively with other participating financial institutions, other financial institutions being those the government is lending to at lower rates. This was a poorly thought out, poorly executed plan.
People, someone needs to organize a mass protest on Washington. I’m serious. The silent majority will flock there.
They run a network but isn't General Dynamics {the actual submarine builder} a different company entirely?
You never watch films made by Universal?
Invest in paper and ink?
Or electrons, these days?
>>GE has been described as a hedge fund that also makes submarines and runs a network.
That what I get for taking my defense education from late night comics...:(
Printing unlimited billions ping
LOL GE is in a lot of things but I think Westington House gets the lions share of DOD contracts. One thing though. The other night I saw where a subsidy of G.E. was ordering jets made in China. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2124486/posts This corp is a part of G.E. I checked their site.
