It's now been over nine full days since Madelyn Payne Dunham--Barack Obama's thrown-under-the-bus "typical White" grandmother who raised him--died.
Yet, still no funeral. That's a pretty odd--not to mention, disrespectful--way to treat a grandmother you claim you love and who raised you, regardless of whether you are President-elect of the United States or just an average citizen. Regardless of whether you told the world she was a "typical White" racist.
It was understandable when Dunham first passed away at about 11:00 p.m. on November 2nd that Obama didn't rush back for a service and burial for his grandmother. He was in the closing days of a Presidential election campaign.

I saw a larger image of the pic with him and both grandparents on that bench. It was taken when he graduated from Columbia, before he met Michelle, yet he is wearing a ring on his left hand. Like a wedding band. Interesting. Is this the one?

Dont know how relevant this is, but a funeral director told me black people are very slow about having funerals. Hes had to keep several bodies in storage for weeks until the families got around to the funeral.
To: gridlock
Yep. If indeed that pic was taken when he graduated with Columbia, why the ‘wedding’ ring?

Why would he share old photos of he and his grandparents and not ones after he was an adult? He certainly isn’t camera shy and there are other more current photos of her.

Delayed funerals seem pretty common in Hawaii - maybe partly because extended family is so important and the cost involved in getting here is large, so a lot get scheduled even a year after the death (might be a cultural thing too - I see it more amongst the Filippinos).

I’m sure you’re right that she was cremated, but it still just bothers me. Honoring, remembering, and laying to rest the grandmother who helped raise me would be a priority for me.
Yeah, and that is kinda morbid about your uncle. I will say that when my MIL passed away, the funeral home had all kinds of various urns, one of them being a tiny urn that was on a necklace that someone could wear. Not for me.

Hey, hey, hey...what goes under the bus STAYS under the bus. Unless it involves cash donations, of course.

Maybe he’ll tie her to the car roof like Chevy Chase did to Aunt Edna?......

I wonder if there was an obituary published in the local paper?

My uncle died and was cremated on the Left Coast, and later one of his kids drove the ashes down here. His grandkids would give us a running update - "Grandpa is in Nevada... Grandpa's in Texas, now!"
Needless to say, that part of our family is a bit weird! LOL (Still love them, though!)

Uh...I do not see a shadow at all. I see a ring. It’s gold.

Yeah, on the large one, it is definitely a gold ring. The one on the link isn’t as clear.
