During a segment on Tuesdays Newsroom program, CNN anchor Rick Sanchez asked South Carolina Mark Sanford if the Republican needed to abandon its social conservative principles in order to be successful again: "Do you have to be anti-abortion, because that's a very important, big topic in the South..?" Sanchez later asked the Republican governor, as well as talk show host Neal Boortz, "Can you be a fiscal Republican and a social conservative Republican at the same time without making one side mad..?"
Sanchez had both Sanford and Boortz on to discuss the upcoming Republican Governors Association meeting in Florida. The CNN anchor first brought up a recent New York Times article, with its accompanying exaggerated map, about conclusions that the Democratic Party might draw from the recent election: "You know, as you look at this map and you start to look at the South, there was some suggestion in that New York Times article, for example, that maybe Democrats are going to get from this that you know what, they can win in the future without the South." Sanford replied, "I would just say, you know, Im going to leave the Democratic strategy up to the Democrats. But, you know -- and this is the whole point of the Republican governors meeting here come the end of this week -- is where do we go next? And I think that our problems as a party are much bigger than simply being progressive or coming up with the right strategy....It goes to the core of what is the brand about."

Have you registered form 8871 to designate the Falcon Party as an actual Section 527-FS-2002-13 or 8872 for QSLPO registered party or is it still just a blog?
That’s for us to decide really.. There are tens of millions of registered Conservative Republicans and a few RINOs who have hijacked the party.. time to flex our muscles.
Sanford is right. conservatism is not a buffet. Sanford was also against the bailout. And Neil, you aren’t a fiscal conservative just because of tax reform. W also cut taxes...
He cant help it he’s just an asshole.
I wish you were right, but I have been waiting for this for years. I am tired of it. The RINOS are often indisguishible from the Elephants. There is nothing that says either “Conservative” or “Constitutionalist”. Let the RINOs have the Elephant party. Why is it so difficult to start a new party? Get rid of the old sloth. The Peggy Noonans and other cocktail republicans.
well that’s why Obama won. Republicans stayed home and we now have a communist in the WH
Well said and agreed! : )
Let’s put it this way, look at the overall history of third party’s taking over versus reform within a party and tell me what is most successful. Parties reform and change themselves from within all the time, generally, every 20-30 years or so, parties go through an ideological resurgence (pretty measurable cycle directly coinciding with new generations.) You generally have establishments for a generation with a new generation rebelling against that establishment, getting power, creating establishment that veers off course, then a new generation comes back and rebels again against that establishment..
Third parties, on the other hand, only make real impact once every century and a half or so (if you count the origin of the Republican party, which many would say where never really a ‘third party’.)
Based on history, the Republican party is due for another value resurgence like we had in 1979-1980.
Until the Constitution Party has equal ballot access in all 50 states, they are going nowhere. Ballot acces laws in three fourths of the states prevent their success.
Building a political party is very time consuming, it's like building a house, you have to start with the foundation, (a strong organizaton in every county in the country.) Then build the structure, which includes things like fund raising, party members elected to local, state offices, and Congress. Up to this point the Constitution Party has followed in the path of the Libertarian party, build the roof before the foundation.
A Constitution Party President could not accomplish anything without at least a few Constitution Party members in the House, and Senate.
Fund raising is a big issue, when conservatives take control of the Republican Party, at county or state level the big donors close their wallets. A new conservative party will have even more problems raising money.
The Republican Party has the structure in place, and it is ripe for the picking. If enough people get involved, and put forth the effort it could be taken over in a few years, as opposed to taking decades to build a new structure. It isn't easy, but it can be done.
I think the opportunity is ripe for the picking or dumping of the rotten fruit of the Republican Party. If several nationally respected conservatives can be brought on board, then the natural excitement from a real third party might be enough to swamp over the DNC and GOP. The time is more right than it ever has been.
The CP thinks that trade with tariffs is the way to collect taxes.
I have not registered anything. But email them and ask
“well thats why Obama won. Republicans stayed home and we now have a communist in the WH”
There is a lesson to be learned here....no more RINO POTUS nominees.
that will just lead to another war
Palin wasn’t enough for them?
“Palin wasnt enough for them?”
It’s not that she wasn’t “enough” but that McCain was too much. 2012.....see tagline.
I hate to dissapoint you, but I explained why that won’t happen.
mccain was too much? hope they enjoy obamunism.
Being pro-life is starting to be a fantasy in America. I am certain now that abortion by choice will always be legal in America. And with Obama appointing the next two Supreme Court Justices, forget about changing legislation for the next 25+ years.
Elective abortions will always be legal in Americas, so why is GOP pushing something that can never come to pass? My guess it is for religious reasons, not political reason.
AMEN! Amen, and AAAAAAMEN to each of your points.
The stupidity of the American people so influenced by the media, into believing the Republican party is made up of rich blue bloods, when the majority of folks are average hard working middle class folks with no voice on the street, unlike the MSM,
and who have to work for a living, unlike the MSM,
who have precious little time for protest, unlike the MSM,
who don’t act as rent a crowd for every little leftist issue someone has, unlike the MSM,
who haven’t forgotten Ruby Ridge, WACO, the twin towers, radical Muslims, illegal immigration, the second amendment, demographics, etc, unlike the MSM,
and above all love the country, the Constitution, the founding fathers the founding documents, and are fully aware of the founders sacrifice and that of every single man and woman who has laid their life on the line for the United States of America since before the American Revolution, unlike the MSM.
I am not entirely sure what lost this election, but have a feeling that turnout of a certain group of so called conservatives, had something to do with it. The election eight years ago with record turnout, was so close as to appear stolen. This one was a blowout by comparison. The Republican party platform has always appealed to me, what became unappealing was the acceptance of the RINO concept where candidates could be what they wanted to be and the platform be damned.
Sorta like John McCain calling himself a Republican when he should have been run out of the party. One thing for sure, being a mavrick finally caught up with him, last time that happened was 2000 in SC.
