CNN’s Rick Sanchez: Does the GOP ‘Have to Be Anti-Abortion’?
Newsbusters ^ | November 11, 2008 | Matthew Balan

Posted on 11/11/2008 7:14:32 PM PST by St. Louis Conservative

During a segment on Tuesday’s Newsroom program, CNN anchor Rick Sanchez asked South Carolina Mark Sanford if the Republican needed to abandon its social conservative principles in order to be successful again: "Do you have to be anti-abortion, because that's a very important, big topic in the South..?" Sanchez later asked the Republican governor, as well as talk show host Neal Boortz, "Can you be a fiscal Republican and a social conservative Republican at the same time without making one side mad..?"

Sanchez had both Sanford and Boortz on to discuss the upcoming Republican Governors’ Association meeting in Florida. The CNN anchor first brought up a recent New York Times article, with its accompanying exaggerated map, about conclusions that the Democratic Party might draw from the recent election: "You know, as you look at this map and you start to look at the South, there was some suggestion in that New York Times article, for example, that maybe Democrats are going to get from this that you know what, they can win in the future without the South." Sanford replied, "I would just say, you know, I’m going to leave the Democratic strategy up to the Democrats. But, you know -- and this is the whole point of the Republican governors meeting here come the end of this week -- is where do we go next? And I think that our problems as a party are much bigger than simply being progressive or coming up with the right strategy....It goes to the core of what is the brand about."

“CNN’s Rick Sanchez: Does the GOP ‘Have to Be Anti-Abortion’?”

If they weren’t then that would be the last remaining shred of any difference between the parties. And the end of me being a Republican.

It is probably easier to change the Constitution party than the Republican party. If we had Hannity, Levin, you, and Sarah Palin on board, we could make it a truly conservative party based on the constitution.

Why, no of course not. Then, since the Party sees how you recognise the need to change—yeah, change!—they next will convince you how you need to look at gays & lesbians in a more tolerant way...and amnesty is really the best way to take care of illegal immigration...and, and, and before you know it—why you won’t even remember whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat!!!

“Count 2 Freepers on the “Constitution” Band Wagon!”

Make it three, I’ve researched that party for years and I like what they stand for if not their strategy. They ought to focus on state races, win some BEFORE shooting for the Presidency. Might even be nice to steal a few Senate seats as well. Nothing like 3 or 4 CP Senators to force the minority Repubs to the right, they’d need the votes just to be able to filibuster.

We already have the party, we just need to get it back on track from the small minority in charge who took it off track of Constitutional principles. The trend is happening now. Third and fourth tier parties just want to stick their hands out for the bread crumbs. I would rather send the RINOs off to their own little party. We call them RINOs for a reason, they aren’t true Republicans.

“A party with the likes of Chuck Baldwin, John Loftin, Michael Petroutka, et al, have very little to appeal to Conservatives.”

How about a party with the likes of Rudy, Mitt, Linc-chafee, McCain, Grahamnesty, Bush, Schwarzenegger...etc.???

In other words, winning (to you) is everything. Is there a line you would draw, that is a stage in the 9-mo. window of the unborn life? No abortion after 3, 5, 7 months? Infanticide OK ?? I mean, in for a penny, in for a pound: If the Party says, any stage is OK, including partial-birth...?

Rick Sanchez should find himself a quiet place, sit down, and think of the worst thing a person can do. That thing would not even come close to the terrible the act of killing a baby in the womb.

Of course, asking Sanchez to do some thinking in a quiet place might be too much. All he will do is fall asleep, like he is asleep to the culture of death which hates the sanctity of life. However, killing a baby in the womb is not the worst of it. How about the procedure of inducing labor in the mother and letting the baby die in a bucket? This is the procedure that is happening in the abortion mills that no one wants to talk about. Is that not right, Obama?

Those are the types I am saying who hijacked it, not the foundation of the party as Baldwin and his ilk are re the Constitution party. We call the ones you mentioned RINOs for a reason, they are off track of the principles of the party.

The heart of the Republican party is the party of Reagan and the new generation of Palin, Jindal, Cantor, Watts, etc.

There already is a party that favors killing inconvenient family members. If that’s what you want, go join them.

“The heart of the Republican party is the party of Reagan and the new generation of Palin, Jindal, Cantor, Watts, etc.”

I hope you are correct because I for one am never casting another vote for a democrat-lite POTUS candidate just because it has an “R” following it’s name.
