Auto Industry Support

Posted on 11/11/2008 12:52:30 PM PST by Always Independent

Why isn't GW and the rest of the republicans slamming the democrats for wanting to provide so much money to help the auto industry when they did so much to harm it in the first place. With the democrats preventing the domestic production of oil and aiding the cartel in keeping the price of oil so high, they are the prime reason the US automakers aren't selling cars and trucks. Doesn't the new axis of evil Reid/Pelosi/Obama know that the high price of fuel is the primary reason that cars and trucks aren't being sold.

I guess they should be called the Axle of evil.

Dammit GW and the rest fight for something!

Same reason they didn’t run ads asking “Are you better off today than when the Democrats took control in 2006?” - they want to appear the more “civilized” party and not “descend” into mudslinging.

Looks good on paper, but in hindsight it has not worked out at all. No more, we need to go after the Dems with hammer and tongs and hound their every move. It worked for them, should work for us.

Actually, the real problem is the UAW. You don’t see any but the big three asking for handouts do you? So what’s the difference between GM and Toyota? Union Contracts?

Yup. The real bailout is for the UAW.

It seem that Jorge is more interested in depressing wages in this country and bring in imports.

Imagine, for a moment, a loss of 3 million well paid jobs.

What would the result be?

NO, that's not the reason!

The big three not only has the unions, but they also have all the thousand retirees out here with huge monthly insurance and pension payments. Lots of baggage with the big three.

That would be entertaining, but the effect of 3 million well paying jobs lost would result in a lot of buying power, which the economy needs, evaporating. It would not be a pleasant thing to live through.

Texas, circa 1986 / 1987.

And the place is BOOMING now, with little union interference in business.

What's your point?

Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) has called his challenger for the chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), an “anti-manufacturing, left-wing Democrat”.

Someone needs to count up all the Toyota Priuses purchased by CA, OR, WA state and local governments (thousands in Los Angeles alone) the past five year, and all the tax breaks and carpool lane priviledges given to those owners..... And all the harping by those on the West Coast here about horrible domestic made automobiles.....and lay it on their political porch.

Huh? Boeing, AIG, Wall Street in general, The State of California, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac.

The government has become a free-for-all bank window.

Very misleading.

A bailout of the Big 3 American Automakers is in actuality a payoff to the unions... There’s nothing wrong with American cars, it’s just that Toyota and Honda arn’t handicapped with semi-literal orcs who refuse to put in a full day’s work and get $65 an hour whether they show up or not.

Unions - they were designed to turn us into a socialist state so stop romanticizing them.

Let Detroit become a sweltering unflushed toilet on a hot summer day - the people who live there would probably like it.

Rush said on his show today we shouldn't call Obama names, nor protest in the streets, etc. He said let Obama over reach and it'll come crashing down on him.

For me...I'm going to fight. I'll do the same thing that the left did to Bush. Sorry guys.

The price of gas has dropped below $2/gallon in parts of the country.....the problem is that GM loses money on every car built, and the past five years has been selling cars to people with poor credit ratings... sucks to be them.

NEVER HAPPEN!

They would simply re-organize and hopefully, would make all Union Contracts null and void.

BEST THING THAT COULD HAPPEN.

Not a DIME!!!
