Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign slogan, "the audacity of hope," should have instead been "the audacity of deceit." After months of telling the American people that he supports the Second Amendment, and only hours after being declared the president-elect, the Obama transition team website announced an agenda taken straight from the anti-gun lobby--four initiatives designed to ban guns and drive law-abiding firearm manufacturers and dealers out of business:
"Making the expired federal assault weapons ban permanent." Perhaps no other firearm issue has been more dishonestly portrayed by gun prohibitionists. Notwithstanding their predictions that the ban's expiration in 2004 would bring about the end of civilization, for the last four years the nation's murder rate has been lower than anytime since the mid-1960s. Studies for Congress, the Congressional Research Service, the National Institute of Justice, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found no evidence that gun prohibition or gun control reduces crime. Guns that were affected by the ban are used in only a tiny fraction of violent crime-about 35 times as many people are murdered without any sort of firearm (knives, bare hands, etc.), as with "assault weapons." Obama says that "assault weapons" are machine guns that "belong on foreign battlefields," but that is a lie; the guns are only semi-automatic, and they are not used by a military force anywhere on the planet.
"Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment." The amendment--endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police--prohibits the release of federal firearm tracing information to anyone other than a law enforcement agency conducting a bona fide criminal investigation. Anti-gun activists oppose the restriction, because it prevents them from obtaining tracing information and using it in frivolous lawsuits against law-abiding firearm manufacturers.

The American people got the government they deserve.
Yeah, a whole bunch of the 80 million gun owners who voted for Obama are about to get a surprise.
If so, if having the ban in place coincided with more incidents than the period after the expiration of the ban, it is patently obvious (at least using Million Man Math) that we are safer without the ban.
Besides, most of this crap relies on the 'sporting purposes' nonsense. The second Amendment has never said a danged thing about sporting purposes.
Not yet . . . at least not with the current justices on the Supreme Court. When a few more activist judges are appointed we may get a new interpretation of our 2nd Amendment rights.
FNG here. But will the Heller decision have any impact on gun bans? Wasn’t there some common use clause there?
There was discussion regarding "common use", but I don't remember whether it was in testimony or in the actual decision.
And they will do it by teaching you kids that you're stupid and dangerous for even owning a gun, that you can trust a government, and that guns are dangerous, all around unnecessary etc.
They will take your guns by jacking up the cost of ammo, for your safety or to protect the environment. They will take them by saying you can't have bayonet lugs, pistol grips, magazines over 5 rounds, suppressors......
They will create “gun free zones,” buffer zones around schools, etc. They will make it hard to transport a gun on a plane, to transfer it to a new owner, they will require child safety locks, maybe a safe that meets certain specs.......
They will send the ATF on a witch hunt and if any “t” isn't crossed or “i” dotted the stores selling guns will get in trouble. They will force you to pay for licenses, have long mandatory waiting times, maybe require a training class just to own a gun and for which you have to pay dearly.
They can say ranges are too loud, you can't fire lead shot over water, they will claim that you don't need “assault, sniper, military style” weapons, which they will claim everything to be. Some guns will be too small, others too large, and in the end, everything that goes boom will be defined as bad and wrong in some way.
And why will it work? Because it will happen slowly, one bureaucratic paper cut at a time. Because it will come from the bottom up by brainwashing kids and pressing the mute button on anyone that questions them (talk radio, NRA magazines......). It's going to happen because those that own guns really aren't on one sheet of music and those promised “change” (free stuff) will go along with nearly anything as long as they get their government cheese.
I think we can take em..
This is on his web site? I’m going to check it out
“Fraudacity for Dopes”
what is wrong with the other half of America?
Ok I have tried looking it up but can’t pull it up. Any one else having promblems?
My tag line says it all.
and don’t forget he will attempt to ban concealed permits:
“I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama said. “I think that creates a potential atmosphere where more innocent people could (get shot during) altercations.”
-Obama
then he states here:
2003 Independent Voters of Illinois Independent Precinct Organization Questionnaire.
“35. Do you support legislation to ban the manufacture, sale and possession of
a. handguns?
While a complete ban on handguns is not politically practicable, I believe reasonable restrictions on the sale and possession of handguns are necessary to protect the public safety. In the Illinois Senate last year, I supported a package of bills to limit individual Illinoisans to purchasing one handgun a month; require all promoters and sellers at firearms shows to carry a state license; allow civil liability for death or injuries caused by handguns; and require FOID applicants to apply in person. I would support similar efforts at the federal level, including retaining the Brady Law.
b. assault weapons?
Yes.
c. ammunition for handguns and assault weapons?
I would support banning the sale of ammunition for assault weapons and limiting the sale of ammunition for handguns.
36. Do you support legislation
a. mandating background checks of purchasers of weapons at gun shows, through the internet and through print advertisements?
Yes.
b. increasing penalties for illegal resale of weapons?
Yes.”
~
Yeah sounds great dear leader...Chicago, the murder capitol of the US...where you cannot even own a handgun...they really know how to handle the gun issue!
Why don’t ya come on over and try to take my guns away there dumbo ears?
Joe, taking away our guns has nothing to do with saving lives or safety. It has everything to do with a compliant citizenry.
Hard for a govt. to force its citizens in to servitude if they all have guns.
