And they will do it by teaching you kids that you're stupid and dangerous for even owning a gun, that you can trust a government, and that guns are dangerous, all around unnecessary etc.
They will take your guns by jacking up the cost of ammo, for your safety or to protect the environment. They will take them by saying you can't have bayonet lugs, pistol grips, magazines over 5 rounds, suppressors......
They will create “gun free zones,” buffer zones around schools, etc. They will make it hard to transport a gun on a plane, to transfer it to a new owner, they will require child safety locks, maybe a safe that meets certain specs.......
They will send the ATF on a witch hunt and if any “t” isn't crossed or “i” dotted the stores selling guns will get in trouble. They will force you to pay for licenses, have long mandatory waiting times, maybe require a training class just to own a gun and for which you have to pay dearly.
They can say ranges are too loud, you can't fire lead shot over water, they will claim that you don't need “assault, sniper, military style” weapons, which they will claim everything to be. Some guns will be too small, others too large, and in the end, everything that goes boom will be defined as bad and wrong in some way.
And why will it work? Because it will happen slowly, one bureaucratic paper cut at a time. Because it will come from the bottom up by brainwashing kids and pressing the mute button on anyone that questions them (talk radio, NRA magazines......). It's going to happen because those that own guns really aren't on one sheet of music and those promised “change” (free stuff) will go along with nearly anything as long as they get their government cheese.
My tag line says it all.
“...when in a war, foreign or intestine, the enemies get a final victory, so as, the forces of the Commonwealth keeping the field no longer, there is no further protection of subjects in their loyalty, then is the Commonwealth dissolved, and every man at liberty to protect himself by such courses as his own discretion shall suggest unto him.”
