The Death of the Right's Power on Radio and the Web
Talking Points Memo ^ | Nov 10, 2008 | By M.J. Rosenberg

Posted on 11/10/2008 3:39:40 PM PST by Jim Robinson

They had a long run. Rush and Malkin and Lucianne and Drudge and Free Republic and those Littlle Green Footballs.

But it's over. The Obama Presidency will produce untold millions for these guys because frustration and hate is something you can take to the bank -- but with no branch of government under their control, they have been rendered powerless. Who will pay attention when some irrelevant rightist hack like Eric Cantor (R-VA) or Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) rushes to the House floor to cite a Michael Savage diatribe? Nobody.

A great part of the Right's strength was the belief -- shared by many on the left -- that they represented the majority. We were an embattled minority, fighting them, history and demographic trends.

"We are, after all, a center/right country," they said and we echoed.

But now it is clear we are not. We're a centrist country and they are perceived by a clear, strong majority of Americans as the fringe. (Just look at those election returns from 2008 and 2006). They are like the far left. In that famous old dustbin.

I read their websites. They are counting on (hoping and praying) that Barack Obama will be a bad manager like Carter or undisciplined like Clinton. Not very likely. Besides, without control of Congress, what can they do anyway?

They can talk and raise money. We have the White House, Congress and are better at raising money.

So they are back to where they where after Goldwater lost. The wilderness...

Just as soon as the GOP nominates a conservative that is NOT ashamed of his or her positions, we’ll vote for them, and I would imagine so will most of the country.

It's not going to happen. The RNC is good at one thing: using party politics to control the outcome of every primary so that conservatives are not elected. IMHO, the RNC would prefer a Democrat to win over a conservative.

Must of been one of those Federally Mandated Toilets we were flushing instead of the good ol’ “one flush is enough” that most of us are used to.

Hey, Rosie, I'm not hoping and praying in the manner that you think. In fact, I wouldn't mind having the U.S. be succesful, no matter who the president is.

However, Rosie, I know that Obama is destined, via socialism, to failure. Socialism has always failed wherever it's been tried, and it has never produce a strong or productive economy.

So, Rosie, if Barach follows through on his promises in the primaries, he is already a failure. There is just no way that he can triumph with his agenda or policies which are based on socialism or communism.

Therefore, Rosie, the only one with the false hopes is you and you have to be delusional if you think that Obama can be successful with any of his communist propaganda or policies. So, go ahead and feel good while you can. In a very short time, you and all others that fell for Obama's nonsense will come to realize that you were just too dumb to recognize how stupid all of Obama's promises were. But, knowing how dumb you really are, I know that you won't be able to admit your dumb mistakes.

In the end, Rosie, republicans lost this election, the democrats won, but the real losers are the American people who will have to suffer through another Carter-like administration, or perhaps even worse.

Well Cal Gal I am in 100% agreement with you, but the party that won the election is not too concerned about voter fraud.

In fact since the Hispanic vote when largely their way, you can look for them opening up the border as well.

I hope I am wrong but in my experience you can not count on ‘Rats being fair and even-handed.

They let us get away the last time they controlled Congress and the Presidency. Don’t expect them to make that mistake again.

They’ll do every thing they can to silence us.

Fairness Doctrine II. They’ll find a way to make it cover satellite broadcasting too.

Something to cover the Internet (protecting kids from ‘hate speech.’)

Publishing.

I’m sure some leftist somewhere has come up with a clever plan.

People don’t understand numbers. They think that since you lost, everything you had going for you was a non-factor. I submit that, given the unbelievably biased Pravda-style of the MSM and the willful ignorance of much of the American people, that if we didn’t have talk radio, the Marxist would have got 65 percent of the vote.

Rumors of the death of conservative thinking have been greatly exagerrated.

The political left presently has so many things going their way while, at the same time, conservatives are at a disadvantage on so many things that I don’t see any kind of serious conservative political comeback happening until sixty years later, if conservatives do make any kind of serious political comeback at all. I’m from Massachusetts, and I’m still waiting for any kind of conservative political turnaround here. Massachusetts leftists-both D leftists and R leftists-have successfully suppressed most of conservatism and most of conservative Republicanism for over fifty years now, and with the next POTUS being Barack Obama and with the next Congress being even more leftist than the present Congress, I’m not very optimistic about conservatives really being able to successfully turn things around for them so soon, with “Massachusetts politics” going national, starting on January 20, 2009. If conservatives really have all of the answers, then why can’t they even win in Massachusetts after more than fifty years of one-sided socialistic rule in Massachusetts?

This guy is the epitome of the snivelling, sneering, creepy little ideologue. What he doesn’t know is that Obama represents the quick beginning and quicker end of Left wing demagoguery in American Political Life.He won’t last two years without alienating increasing numbers of people for increasing numbers of reasons.

We live in a world of Politically Correct Speech- Leftspeak. In Leftspeak “rich fatcats” has a bad sound to it, therefore it describes Conservatives and/or Republicans, It does not matter if there is any truth in the epithet or if it is, in fact, the reverse of the truth. In the Leftist world words have no intrinsic meaning, only emotional content. As adjectives are only divided into “our side” and “the other side” ALL adjectives with bad connotations or emotional content apply to “the other side.” The left simply does not understand when non-Left people try to attach any sort of definitional meaning to words, especially adjectives.

Buncha baloney.

We’re still a center-right country, and will be for the foreseeable future.

The lefties would love to believe that they’re actually in the majority because they won what was essentially a protest vote, but they’re wrong, as usual.

Obama is going to likely be even worse than Carter was. He’s got far less experience than even Carter had when he was elected, and is even more of an empty-headed idealist.

We are going to see the congress sweep right in 2010, and the GOP re-take the WH in 2012.

And, if this birth certificate mess isn’t satisfactorily resolved by Obama, et al, we may have a Republican in office sooner.

I cannot and have not watched TV since election day, with the exception of EWTN (Catholic news network) and QVC! And I'm not even a shopper!
I am truly sickened by the MSM and will NEVER watch SEE-BS,NBC,ABC,CNN,MSNBC...They are programmed out of my TV remote control.
The MSM has zero credibility, it is strictly a mouthpiece for the ZERO.
I'll get my news from freerepublic, conservative talk radio and conservative internet blogs. God bless those of you who can stomach watching the MSM, because somebody needs to keep tabs on the propaganda. But I can't so I won't.

Well, in our neck of the woods, talk radio is popular. I suggest they run the good stuff from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, and then run the liberal junk throughout the evening/night. I would PAY the station to help cover the losses they will experience while running the liberal junk. I’m sure lots of people would donate to keep them on the air. The powers that be surely won’t dictate what time the “fairness” has to occur, will they?

So they are back to where they where after Goldwater lost.

Four years away from winning the Presidency over a Democratic incumbent so hated that he doesn't even try to run for re-election?

Sold!

Delusional beyond belief. It is always good when the opponents believe that we cannot do anything. Talk Radio and our side of the internet will be stronger than ever before.

Obama and his followers will never realize that most people who make the great USA functions, who own most of the money, pay most of the taxes, and make America the greatest nation in history have voted against them. At least 50% of Obama voters, i.e. 32 million people are either on welfare, or do not pay any taxes, or take money from their parents, and simply contribute nothing to our society but living on the expense of the tax payers money.

If there is a law that allow only tax payers to vote Obama and liberals will not get more than 30% of the vote.
