With the experiences I had at high school and talking about politics I'm sure keeping it in "History" class is a better idea that talking about it in a random class or hallway.

Back in the 20s and 30s, when I was going to school, we weren't allowed to use indecent language either.
Puckett Attendance Center?.............IZZAT A NEWSPEAK FOR HIGH SCHOOL?..............
I was at the grocery store yesterday. Two elementary school age kids were running up and down the aisle yelling Obamanation! Obamanation!
I had the feeling they just thought it was a funny word, but who knows.
They should refer to “You Know Who”
That was my first thought, especially since the news item doesn't say why. They can't let any negative information about Obama be spread. Yet all the comments about the story on the webpage assume that they are somehow discriminating against Obama.
I use it to mean the former, while some use it to mean the latter.
It creepy....the worship of ‘the one’ - his name is like a chant to many.
Sounds reasonable to me. He doesn’t need to be in every aspect of a free citizens life!
I was a military brat living in Turkey in the 60s. We were told never under any circumstances to utter the name Ataturk in public, even in casual conversation. He, of cource, was the man who dragged Turkey kicking and screaming out of the dark ages, and his memory is revered by the Turks.
If a Turk heard us mention the name, he would automatically assume we were saying something derogatory about Ataturk, and riled up Turks are not anything anyone wanted.
Yes, the Turks were paranoid, and I see the same behavior in the followers of the One.
“Free Citizens”???
Please tell me what country you live in so I can move there ASAP.
In high school, there is a lot of racial taunting of Obama. That age group doesn’t have a lot of discipline when it comes to stuff like that. You hear a lot of things that are considered “wrong” in normal public areas.
I teach that age group at church and I constantly have to warn them off. Even the most liberal kids will bust on stuff that is “gay”.
It makes sense to me. Puckett is in the middle of nowhere and with the Mississippi country 1/2 white, 1/2 black, no learning is going to get done once his name is mentioned. There were about 10 fights the day after the election at our local middle school, and there are high schools that have been shut down by sheriffs because of fights and disruptions.
Even mentioning his name in my classroom distracts the kids for minutes on end. I simply buried the hatchet by saying I hope he’s an excellent president, because if he’s not, there will be problems the likes that no one has seen.
This will turn out to be nothing more that a rumor.
"Wow, the ignorance of people still floors me. Why in the world would anyone who claims to believe in childhood education look to stifle open dialogue in our youth. ( If children are excited and interested in our political climate why would anyone want to stop them from discussing it. And to the woman that made the first comment; are you serious that we should not talk about anything because there may be someone that does not agree with you and you do not want to offend them? That is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard. If that was the case no one would ever have the opportunity to share their beliefs with others. I am going to make a shot in the dark, but I am going to guess that you are religious. If you truly believe what you wrote, I am atheist and so are a lot of people out there, I hope that you will respect my beliefs and never make any mention of God or your religion in the presence of anyone you do not know. I thank you in advance for respecting my wishes."
------------------------------------------------------ Now they are crying for free speach? They are just unbelievable, he says he is an atheist, WITH A BELIEF???? what a strange statement. They are just weird. Now they are crying about being PC, just whow!.
or 'he who must not be named'
That is a truly interesting perspective. We will probably see more of this "He who must not be named" garbage, especially if high school students decide to actually live up to their reputation as rebellious adolescents and become conservatives.
This story is very fishy. I bet there was some post election violence at the school and the media is totally failing to report it.
Here in middle Ga., I heard about 2 high schools the day after the election. All the black kids wore their Obama t-shirts the next day and were attacking and beating up any white males they saw wearing McCain shirts. They dumped food and drinks on any white girls wearing McCain shirts. The principal announced on that day that nobody could wear those t-shirts any more. DOH! Should have done that wayyyy before the election. What an idiot for not seeing what was going to happen!
I’m sure this type of thing has happened all over the country.
