Quite recently, it struck me that it’s not that the MSM has done everything in its considerable power to spin, deny or conceal, all the unpleasant truths about ACORN, Rev. Wright, Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers and the Annenberg Challenge, that upsets me the most. The thing that truly depresses me is that millions of my fellow Americans know the truth, but simply don’t seem to care.

They also don’t seem too concerned that in a 2001 radio interview, Obama declared that his problem with the Warren Court was that although it ruled in favor of Civil Rights, it was not sufficiently radical when it came to redistribution of wealth. Apparently, Obama thinks the Founding Fathers should have included that in the Bill of Rights.

Obama can deny it all he likes, but anyone who subscribes to the belief that we should adopt a fiscal policy based on “From everyone according to his abilities to everyone according to his needs” is a disciple not of Warren Buffet, but of Karl Marx. Still, as some cynic once observed, when you rob Peter to pay Paul, don’t expect Paul to raise any objections. So, even though Obama claims he will cut income taxes for 95% of us, even though he knows full well that over 30% of us don’t even pay a single penny in income taxes, millions of Pauls are ready and eager to vote for this con man.

Frankly, I find it amazing and pathetic that so many Americans are anxious to finish the job begun by FDR to turn us into a socialist state. Is it simply because they long for America to go the way of China, the Soviet Union, Venezuela, North Korea and Cuba, or do they simply not give a damn? Sheep, after all, are not known for their spirit of independence or their intelligence.

When I suggest that socialism often leads to tyranny, I am not indulging in right-wing hyperbole. After all, aside from control of capital and the means of production, one of the essentials of all dictatorships is central control of the media. In 2008, the left already controls most of the MSM, not to mention the liberal arts departments on most college campuses.

The warning signs are all around us. Recently, as you may have heard, Beverly West, a reporter with Florida television station WFTV, dared to ask Joe Biden whether Obama’s connection to ACORN was a legitimate concern and whether Obama’s response to Joe the Plumber was Marxist. As a result, the Obama/Biden campaign informed WFTV that it was cutting off access because of such rude questions.

The American Issues Project, whose TV ad called for an examination of the Obama/Bill Ayers connection, led to the Obama machine’s demand that the Justice Department begin a criminal investigation of the AIP. The idea that the AIP should be investigated for running a legitimate TV ad, but ACORN should not be prosecuted for perpetuating voter fraud is the sort of thing that George Orwell would have dealt with if he’d lived long enough to write a sequel to “1984.”

If Obama is elected, there’s no question that the Democrats will pass the ill-named Fairness Doctrine, thus ensuring that talk radio, the only part of the MSM not fully under control of the far left, will be silenced once and for all.

After that, our only means of communication will be smoke signals. That is assuming that under Obama’s new order we’ll be able to afford blankets.

“the ill-named Fairness Doctrine”

This is a classic propaganda ploy, one of the favorites of the leftwing. Call something by a name that is its opposite and the majority of people will fall for it.

The Bolsheviks did this in Russia. “Bolshevik” means majority. They were not a majority by any means, but the propaganda ploy worked.

Why is this used so much by the left? Because if they were honest and people knew what they were really up to, they wouldn’t fall for it. The right rarely resorts to this tactic. It’s easier for the right to be honest because they don’t need to lie to cover their true intentions.

This writer is not just some blogger off the street, he is a professional. As such he has the obligation of answering his own question and telling us why this should have occurred. If we don't know why we won't be able to stop it the next time.

He is right, while not emphasized, Obama's radical connections were notorious. As a whole, the electorate did not care. Why?

Since the author does not vouchsafe an answer perhaps some Freepers are on the ball.

“Something for nothing” is one of the most powerful siren songs ever penned. It has been since the dawn of mankind. That’s what Obama was selling. It describes classical Marxism precisely.

I don’t think it’s much more complicated than that.

“Why?”

Skin color, "historical" significance

Toothy smile

Big promises

Engages in half-truths and persuasive words which leads to deception (Especially on so called Judea/Christian believers)

Is a democrat (Over 220 EV by default in today's political climate)

Backed by a powerful media machine

$600+ Million to spend on propaganda

Democrat election machine (They know how to get the homeless, drug addicts, nursing home, felon, illegal alien vote as well as alleged fraudulent votes out of thin air)

Was not a moderate Republican who voted for a $700+ billion bailout bill that will end up being consumed by corruption/lack of oversight by the congresscritters

Electorate are ignoramuses

"As a whole, the electorate did not care. Why?"

Because the msm was able to demonize W to such an extent and the education system has done an abysmal job in teachingv history.

Neither development is an accident.

The forces aligned against free Americans are potent and growing.

Storm clouds on the horizon

I was one of those rare few that told the pollster that I thought America was on the right track.

I was so fearful of what the ‘other’ track was going to bring down on our heads.

The ordinary Oprah-addled mouth breather is going to have to feel a lot more uncomfortable before they’ll begin to have misgivings about Obama.

They will though. And so will we all.

The question is, will it be permanent or temporary?

Talk radio will not be ended by the Fairness Doctrine it will just move to media not controlled by the Fairness Doctrine such as satellite radio, the Internet or even overseas short wave stations and powerful AM radio stations in Canada or Mexico. I don’t think the millions who regularly listen to talk radio on local stations will be too happy when their local stations are reduced to broadcasting cooking shows and informercials and they have to go to the equivalent of Radio Free America to get uncensored news from the other side of the Obama Curtain.

I have spoken to some leftist journalists and they say the Fairness Doctrine is impossible to design in such a way that it doesn’t hurt news programs. They may try to implement the “Truth Doctrine” where they make it easier to sue people for telling “lies” in the public arena. That would have a chilling effect that would work just as well.

Nor will the station owners when they find they can not get local businesses to buy commercial time.

FWIW I’ll take a stab at it....please note that I am not a philosopher, nor do I play one on TV, nor did I stay a at Holiday Inn last night...

I don’t think these people have any idea of the ramifications of what they are doing - I believe they have an emotional need to be part of something - anything - bigger than themselves that trumps whatever rational thinking they are capable of.

Having lived in most powerful and richest nation on earth since the 1950s, these folks have never been placed in a situation where they needed to develop and appreciate the importance of self reliance, competency, a sense of real community with their fellow citizens, or faith in something greater than themselves.

And yet, deep down inside they know something’s missing. But without a firm grounding in reality as developed by collectively going through a real Great Trial (such as a long term financial depression, world war, planet-wide disaster, etc.), they’re coming up with their own - social justice, Global Warming, etc.

Until recently, the last generation of Americans that went through a real Great Trial (the Great Depression/WWII) served as a brake on the younger generations. But the WWII generation is moving quickly out of the picture. The post-WWII generations are firmly in control and are about to make their first collective big mistake.

What I believe we are seeing is a mass psychosis on a societal level, caused by years of being able to ignore reality due to the amusements, distractions and insularity of a society probably too affluent for its own good.

Very shortly, I suspect reality is going to bite, and bite hard. Globally, we’re in for a prolonged period (years) of conflict, instability, uncertainty, fear etc. that has not been seen on on this planet since the 1930s and 40s.

Not a pretty picture. On a more positive note, while roughly 50% of the population is afflicted, 50% isn’t. Sooner or later the current in-vogue worldview will fall apart - the question is will the more rational part of the population be ready and willing to pick up the pieces.
