Obama to use executive orders for immediate impact
Associated Press ^ | 11/09/2008 | STEPHEN OHLEMACHER

"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we'll see the president do that," Podesta said. "I think that he feels like he has a real mandate for change. We need to get off the course that the Bush administration has set."

Executive orders "have the power of law and they can cover just about anything," Tobias said in a telephone interview.

On drilling, the federal Bureau of Land Management is opening about 360,000 acres of public land in Utah to oil and gas drilling. Bush administration officials argue that the drilling will not harm sensitive areas; environmentalists oppose it.

"They want to have oil and gas drilling in some of the most sensitive, fragile lands in Utah," Podesta said. "I think that's a mistake."

To the victor goes the spoils.

As Rush said way back in 1992, elections have consequences.

This is ridiculous. I can’t believe 53% of people voted for this guy. They gave a mandate for socialism, and McCain only did slightly better than Dole did in the EC.

And instead of letting us put a check on the RISKY Hussein, they strengthen his hold on the legislative branch.

What can we do to stop this guy?

You can bet to see Obama ‘out-do’ Clinton in this area.

And I wonder how many of Bush's EOs were only to countermand or undo Clinton's. IIRC one of Bush's first EOs was to stop all the big government regulations Clinton tried to pour in during his final days.

You have to remember that the only people you will convince that Obozo is a devil ... already think that. The others ... well IMO you could prove without a doubt that he is a pedophile and they would praise him for his interest in children.

Also IMO trying to convince those who supported him that the Obomb is a devil with the late term abortion issue is a fools errand

Lastly, I truly believe that he could be the Anti-Christ or at least a dress rehearsal for him. You are NOT going to battle that kind of evil by focusing on a minor (in comparison to the end of the Earth. Granted , it CAN be one of many issues but it CANNOT be the main focus and be successful

I want Obama to try and cram every liberal and extreme policy down our throats as soon as possible. I want him to do as much as he can to destroy this country. It might be the only way revolution is sparked. We desperately need a revolution and we won’t see one if changes continue to be implemented incrementally. Mr. Hussein .... BRING IT!

I said when that thing was passed, we didn't want to give powers to President Bush that we wouldn't want Clinton - or worse - to have.

Indeed. The cheerleaders for the Patriot Act seemed to think that we would never again lose power.

I look forward to freezing myself to death in the name of The Messiah.

"So if somebody wants [use electricity to stay warm in winter or cool in summer], they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

"That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

"So if somebody wants to [use electricity], they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them.”

It may not be just the Patriot Act.

Bush grants presidency extraordinary powers
Directive for emergencies apparently gives authority without congressional oversight

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55825
Corsi says the president can assume the power to direct any and all government and business activities until the emergency is declared over.

Which is why, when I hear any politician, even one with a decent pro-life record, say “there are good people on both sides of this issue, I know he doesn’t get it.

E.g., Orrin Hatch. He loves to say that.

Seems like Utah’s Governor needs to excercise some executive power of it’s own,

Sorry, Jr.'s not up to the job. Another socialist kissup.

if Obama gets into a catfight with Pelosi or Reid (likely at some point) then you might very well see the Dem congress override an XO without (R) help.

That’s not going to happen but I would be grateful to you if you could cite evidence of any congress overriding any XO because it would give me a little hope that Obama might be reined in, if only slightly.

While it’s true that abortion is not something that’s going to happen to YOU, the fact is that as long as we have “legal” abortion, we have no Constitution or any other law.

As Pope John Paul II said, with Bill Clinton standing a few feet away: A government that claims the right to define that some people have no right to life is a totalitarian government.

Namely, the U.S. Government since January 22, 1973.

Give an example of a social conservative strategy that depends on usurping unconstitutional powers for the federal government.

That looks like Colorado between Edwards and Eagle on I70.

Actually that's Utah about 100 miles east of the beginning of the westernmost part of I-70. Took a trip last year that took me through Oregon, Nevada, Utah back to Texas. EMPTY doesn't even begin to describe the territory.

Nothing like solitude and a fully prepared vehicle on roads in the middle of nowhere.

Look for gas prices to go up.

I am reading the book by Dick Morris-FLEECED. I am in shock about the amount of terrorist attacks thwarted JUST SINCE 2002 due to the patriot act and the media did not report and downplayed them on purpose to further usher in their liberal democrat Obama. (We couldn't have Bush looking good at keeping us safe now could we) In the meantime we are complacent to terrorist attacks. It is a crime what the MSM have done!!!

I have always known this about us being complacent but now that Obama has won it is a a surreal nightmare.

1) Barrak = 6
2) Hussein = 7
3) Obama = 5

18 divided by 3 = 6 + 6 + 6

Actually, I think about a third of the voters know exactly what they have done.

They believe in the ideology and they believe that Obambi is just the guy to pull it off. They know that you can't attack the Black guy without being called a racist. It worked throughout the Campaign, so why wouldn't it work now?

This guy isn't Teflon, he's Crisco.
