Ok, didn’t see where he’ll take away your guns or suspend all oil drilling.

You pretty much know Obama’s ideology and what he wants to do ...

And all by Executive Order .... Bush didn’t take away any freedom’s by EO’s .... Obama will .....

And it will take 60 votes in the Senate to override.

No. That's to override a veto of congressional originated legislation.

XO's are merely Presidential exercise of discretion Congress has already granted some agency in the Executive branch.

A simple amendment to a spending bill in the house can eviscerate any executive order.

Too bad FReepers are ever looking for a way to get rid of our best parliamentarians like McConnell in the Senate who can maneuver as the framers intended.

However, if Obama gets into a catfight with Pelosi or Reid (likely at some point) then you might very well see the Dem congress override an XO without (R) help.

It is to restrict the power of the federal government to “do good” by forcing it to do as little as possible, or if you get real lucky, forcing it to act within the bounds of the constitution.

Well said.

Actually, Bush DID remove our right to be secure in our papers, possessions and homes, violation of the 4th. He also unconstutionally gives Bush to unilaterally, without court review, to seize the property of anyone who poses a “significant risk” of proscribed the freedom of speech to protest, if it would “committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq or undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people.”

I am NO fan of Obama, and voted against him. However, I will say again, you can’t be for liberty when “their guys” are pulling the strings and just say “oh, well.... I don’t care about the constitution when it is OUR GUY up there in power.” Checks and balances are there for a reason. People who pitched a fit about this were mocked as “leftists” and “anti war” and worse.

Now you are about to see WHY we were upset about it.

“AWB II”

Recall that George Bush Sr. banned AK-47 imports in 1989 after a mass shooting.

That Klintoon broadened that ban in 1994. Both EOs are still in effect. They have been circumvented both by domestic manufacturers of AK frames/parts and the sunset of AWB I.

But the Commerce Department can ban any imported product it wants. Or whatever the POTUS wants banned.

But IIRC, banning domestic production of autoloading rifles will require legislative action. And not all Democrats are blue-staters immune to challenge.

OK ... I willing to hit him on as many fronts as possible. however I do NOT want to focus on one issue at the expense of others that I feel are far more important

OK - I go along with some of those assumptions ... but there wasn’t that mass collections of paper (computers) ... true there were some bizarre instances where some eight year old kid was branded a terrorist because he drew some picture or an infant who couldn’t fly because somehow its name got on a no-fly list ... but in whole, nothing really happened to deny Americans their Constitutional rights ...

I understand too what you’re saying about Obama as well.

What is troubling to me is his agenda ...we know where he’s going ...

Exactly! So did I. All the Bushbots who cheered on the Patriot Act and warrantless wiretapping will have no place to hide when Obama uses the same statutes and powers against pro-life groups, second amendment advocates and any conservative opposition to his rule. Checks and balances need to be there for a reason.

Remember what Obama said about McCain. A president has to focus on a lot of problems. Well we can too.

My point is simple if you are given an opportunity to knock this guy off his game. You do it! We have American support for this issue. We would be foolish not to. We have to make him weak in the American public eye’s so when the big issues (like yours) come he will be weakened. - Sun Tzu?

Well, President Bush made more use of executive orders than any president I can remember.

Nice attempt at revisionist history comrade. Actually Mr Clinton signed almost 100 more EO's than Mr Bush. Your memory needs fixin'

You weren't alone in that.

Why was that all so difficult for the Bushbots to understand?!?

Democrat Mandate - Winning by one vote.

Republican Mandate - Winning 100% of the vote.

When you own the Media, you own the information.
When you own the information, you own the vote.

As you suggest, Bush is a lot of the reason for the accension of Obama.

Of course, the One Party Press gave Obama about 25 pct points via billions worth of pro-Obama p.r. pieces.

I voted for the McCain/Palin ticket. Wasn’t voting for McCain, but rather for Palin. McCain has made a career for years out of pissing on the Repub base and so many conservatives had little enthusiam for him.

And imo, few Obama supporters know much about him. At work, a couple affluent, well-educated coworkers and strong Obama supporters, had no idea what Obama’s voting record was.

Adolf Hitler could have run vs. Bush and they still would have voted for him. After all, Adolf was a skilled public speaker, campaigned for change and was not Bush.
