WASHINGTON (AP) — Let the 2012 presidential race begin — or at least the speculation about it.
From their travel schedules to their public comments, several Republicans seem to be testing the waters for potential White House runs. At least two are on tap for visits this month to Iowa, which traditionally opens the nominating season with its presidential caucuses.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, considered a rising star in the GOP and thought to be on John McCain's short list of potential running mates, is slated to deliver the keynote address on Nov. 22 to the Iowa Family Policy Center, a prominent Christian conservative group.
And former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the Iowa caucuses this year in his failed bid for the GOP nomination, is scheduled to visit the state on Nov. 20 as part of a nationwide book tour promoting his campaign memoir, "Do the Right Thing."
Sarah Palin, who became McCain's running mate, has signaled that she will remain on the national political scene. The Alaska governor says: "I'm not doing this for naught." And former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who also failed to win the nomination this year, has restarted his political action committee.

We also have to fix the broken primary process-—how can we ensure that ONLY repubs vote in the primaries this time?? that is how we got McLame in the first place...if we even think about running someone like Sarah and haven’t remedied that situation, we can forget it...
You can forget about Jindal now too. Between now and 2012, the MSM will do everything in their power to discredit him.

Again, I always say what is said and how a person reacts to Sarah Palin says WELL MORE about them, than her.
Good point. With Obama, we're almost sure to have a reverse "Operation Chaos" process.
The candidates that want the nomination will start working for it... let's wish them all luck at finding a strategy to win.
If we approve of it, of course.
No to Huckabee. He’s a vindictive a hole.
He more than anyone gave us McDole due to his hate for Romney.
What need to happen before any of these doofusses are allowed to run is that we, conservative, lay out and identify conservative values. Then we see if any of these wannabees meet and agree with those values.
If they do, then they get our support. If they don't, then we don't support them.
Furthermore, if we help them get elected and they don't toe the mark, then we get them unelected.
Finally, it doesn't matter which party they belong, but if they believe in and take conservative values to congress. And most of all, they do not fall into the corruption trap that all the rest of them belong.

i was checking out the RNC rules and regs this morning and it gave me a damn headache and confused the hell out of me. We need to do some digging and figure out what the steps are to fix this problem...is it petitioning? writing letters or emails? We’ve got to do something people—first things first...
Yes, the glaring fault this year was that there was no enthusiasm until Governor Palin came on the scene.
Contributions and volounteers need to come out early for an effective ground game. They don't come from non-Republican voters.
That overrides any advantage from letting Dems and Independents vote.

Ok, but why should the GET to vote in our primary??? what is the advantage?? why should they have a say in who is going to represent OUR party??? (i’m not yelling at you...my blood pressure has been a little high over the last week. :)
This is a problem. Zero would dispatch his minions to vote against any strong candidate, especially a woman like Gov. Palin.
No. That’s not how we got McCain. Quite simply, the primary was too divisive between too many candidates, and McCain was the one left standing. By the time the Romney, Huck and Thompson camps were done savaging each other, only McCain was left. IMHO, the bitter infighting between those 3 is what gave McCain the nod.
That said, McCain is a good guy who had nothing but the best interest of the nation in mind. It sickens me to see him called a traiter and worse here on FR. Irony of irony, most of it seems to be coming from supports of his own VP pick these days. Disgusting.
