'Carter hailed Ceausescu, dictator of the most repressive police state in Eastern Europe, as a "great national and international leader" who had "taken on a role of leadership in the entire international community." Triumphant, Ceausescu brought home a joint communiqué in which the American president stated that his friendly relations with Ceausescu served "the cause of the world..."' - Ion Pacepa (Former Romanian head of intel, who defected).
Fast forward to today: Obama hailed Ahmadinejad, dictator of the most repressive police state in the Middle East, as a "great national and international leader" who had "taken on a role of leadership in the entire international community." Triumphant, Ahmadinejad brought home a joint communiqué in which the American president stated that his friendly relations with Ahmadinejad served "the cause of the world..."
History will be repeating itself in many ways, regarding Carter and Obama, unfortunately. The only silver lining is a one term presidency.
Let's hope. Of course with Carter we had Ronald Reagan waiting in the wings. Who is going to surface to defeat Obama?
Dont forget the fall of the Shah of Iran, crafted by the Carter administration....and still a thorn in our side to this day.
Ron Paul?
Yep the silver lining would be Obama as a one termer.
It’s not too soon to think about 2012, folks. Obama will not always be as popular as he is now. Things will happen over the next four years to change that.
Obama is Jimmy Carter’s second term in office without the high return on CDs.
Right, Reagan was there in 76 to try to overthrow RINO Ford who was the standing president. Reagan's concession speech at the convention that year set the path for him in 80.
who do we now have....perhaps Sarah. I dunno. I would still rather have Duncan Hunter...but he never did step up to the plate at the convention.
We need to make sure that it doesn't turn into a dictatorship within 4 years....
Let’s hope that what happened to Ceasceau is what happens ahmablojob
If he follows Carters model he will more or less defeat himself. He will lead the country in to a Social Melase, Stagflation and international disrepute. The nation will elect anyone we run against him.
In spades!
Damn right it does!
“In the fall of 1973, after having dinner with David Rockefeller in London, Carter’s political momentum began. From that point on, he was groomed for the Presidency by Zbigniew Brzezinski, and the Trilateralists. Just to be on the safe side, they also brought in Minnesota Senator Walter Mondale (a protege of Hubert Humphrey, whose eventual withdrawal from the Presidential race guaranteed the Democratic nomination for Carter), and Rep. Elliot Richardson (former U.S. Attorney General; Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare and Secretary of Defense, and Under Secretary of State under Nixon; former Secretary of Commerce under Ford; and former Ambassador to Great Britain) as possible candidates, and even considered Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.”
“Brzezinski said in an October, 1973 speech: “The Democratic candidate will have to emphasize work, family, religion, and increasingly, patriotism, if he has any desire to be elected.” Carter campaigned by stressing those very virtues, as he asked America to elect him, an “outsider,” to clean up the mess in Washington.”
Zbigniew Brzezinski is on Obama’s team of advisers.

Those most chastised politically and through the media are the greatest prospects IMO.
Those most feared are always those most stifled if allowed to be.
Ronald Reagan experienced the same, however his easy going humor, wit, and knowledge were too much for the chastising naysayers to overcome.
“History will be repeating itself in many ways, regarding Carter and Obama, unfortunately. The only silver lining is a one term presidency.”
Some of the variables have changed. The MSM is unashamed about being in the tank for The One. Americans, in general, are much stupider, and much more socialist than they were in the 1970s.
Obama will make a mess, and the MSM will sell the American public that it’s all Bush’s fault. Obama is at least a 2 termer, and that could be changed with a Democrat congress rolling back term limits, and being cheered by the MSM.
DC Statehood.
Fairness doctrine.
Card check.
Mumia freed.
Acorn line item.
Most of you are too young to remember. The media and SNL were in the tank for Carter as well.
The debate where Ford made the unfortunate remark that Eastern Europe was free (and then showing Carter smiling at the gaffe) OVER AND OVER AGAIN demostrated the bias towards Carter. The SNL routines with Dan Ackroyd as the laid back, cool head, almost hippy-like President was so disgusting.
And yes, Obama will be repeating Carter’s playbook (with some Hoover/FDR thrown in) to the letter.
Carter was beaten by a charismatic Republican leader who could tell people that lower taxes improves the economy and gives people jobs. Jindal, are you listening?
Sorry folks, it can’t be Palin.
Obama will be far worse than Carter.
Hey, I realize that everyone’s upset here, but there isn’t any reason to act like DUmmies.
A ‘Democrat Congress’ is going to just up and overturn the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution?
The real problem is that there are too many who don’t remember just how bad the 70’s really were. Once they feel that, and they certainly will, there will be no amount of media bias to help Obama. He’s heading right into it too.
It’s unfortunate, but it’s been too long since people, many in the media included, have seen ideas like ‘building the economy from the bottom up’ in action. They’ve been taught in college by their Marxist professors that all of this stuff works perfectly. Now, we’re going to watch as Zero implements a series of economic policies that will sink the economy into a near-depression.
As this happens, generations of citizens, who have either forgotten the 70’s or were too young to remember them will have a crash course in shoddy economic theory.
When the fit starts to hit the shan, even the MSM won’t protect this guy. Particularly if he continues to embarrass them with ummms, and ahhs, and repeating campaign talking points instead of plans, as he did at his first press conference.
All is not lost and Zero’s free pass from a lot of people, many in the media included, is soon to expire.
