Not unlike the communist war policy in the ground war in Viet Nam. The first thing they would do against our infantry in the field would be to kill the RTO (Radio Operator). Can't let them Americans have communication don't ya know...
How survive in the conservative underground after radio vanishes from the fairness doctrine?

WE WONT BE SILENCED!!!!!!!!!
I just hope Jim Robinson keeps the database containing user account info well separate from everything else. Tyrants getting that will know who to come looking for first.
I agree. Thank you John and Jim. We appreciate you guys.
My usual insomnia had me checking out FReepers at 2:50 a.m. Thank G-d it’s back!
But this is scary, folks. Pretty soon we’ll be like those people behind the Iron Curtain, drawing their drapes and listening furtively to Radio Free Europe over shortwave radio, while fearing that midnight knock on the door.
We seriously, honestly to get down phone numbers, and have a couple of contingencies in place if this website were to be shut down.
I know you likely hate those words Jim, but with The Messiah entering office relatively soon, we could be stuck on whitewater without paddles.
Networking would have to be the key.
The first thing I did when I saw that FR was down was to check out Free Dominion. Where there’s a will there’s a way.
“Satellite radio subscription boom.”
Darn right, you betcha.
Will subscribe to Sirius-XM this week.
Will satellite radio be able to absorb Rush, Hannity, Levin, Ingraham, and Savage?

I like it.
If we’re thinking of samizdat talk-radio webcasts over the Internet, we’ll have to use some sort of “Anonymizer” applications that work through remote proxy servers in order to hide the webcaster’s IP address. There is, of course, “Anonymizer” which is by subscription. There are also free apps like “Tor” and “Privoxy.”
Broadcaster’s may also have to adopt Michael Savage’s practice of moving around to different locations to webcast.
and with thirty thousand complaints being lodged per week by both the left and right...these folks wont be able to do much of anything.
You probably saw the Obama youth YOUTUBE video that was quickly hidden. Obama plans on “volunteers” to act as thought police.

His prototype?

Time to buy shortwave or Ham radios.
I do believe its possible to use a radio nowadays, I hear they were used during WW2.
Right now the internet is sitting very precariously on the edge of shutdown.
They say its not possible but I bet there are a lot of Chinese that do know how to do it.
It looks expensive. I have two FM transmitters that plug into the earphone jack on any device, including my computer, and transmit to FM radios.
I have my computer on one floor and listen to the broadcasts on the floor above on a Grundig. I don’t have $10 in either one of these little things.
What does that fancy USB unit cost?
This "Fairness Doctrine" can NEVER be allowed to to see the light of day! It's akin to trashing the first admen.
Satellite radio broadcasting was first authorized in 1997, when two licenses were issued to the companies now known as XM and Sirius. Their applications had taken seven years for the Federal Communications Commission to approve, mainly because the National Association of Broadcasters charged that the new service threatened "traditional American values of community cohesion and local identity."
btt
I pay for 24/7 now. If the fairness doc. actually came to fruition, I’m sure Rush, Sean and Mark would come together and offer a package deal. I’m sure it would also include other Conservative radio hosts as well.
For those Conservatives who couldn’t afford it? Remember, we are generous people and those who could afford to “buy” an account for 1 2 or 50 people would be more than happy to.
After all......they have started the “war” and WE will fight it.....together.
In the United States, the FCC regulates technical broadcast spectrum only. Program content is unregulated. However, the FCC has tried in the past to expand its reach to regulate content to satellite radio and cable television, and its options are still open to attempt such in the future. The FCC does issue licenses to both satellite radio providers (XM and Sirius) and controls who holds these licenses to broadcast.
Ummm, 24/7 is online, not on satellite radio.
But remember, Google is in the tank for Obama, and they've been helping China and other repressive regimes implement censorship of internet content.
What makes you think that an Obama FCC would be content to regulate the content of satellite radio and cable, but leave the internet alone?
Right now, the list of "Enemies of the Internet" maintained by Reporters Without Borders includes 13 nations which engage in substantial or pervasive censorship of internet content.
What's to stop the government from taking over ICANN and seizing control of the top-level domains and root servers? Searching for "FreeRepublic" in the ".com" top level domain using a root server? Sorry, no soup for you! Trying to reach the 207.157.64/24 network? "Oops," the backbone carrier "lost" those packets, so sorry.
