BOSTON (WBZ); Congressman Barney Frank says he would not want Sen. John Kerry's seat if Kerry is to move onto the Obama administration. He says he has tremendous opportunities now in the House. And he says he doesn't think that the current state law should change which gives voters the opportunity to choose the next Senator.
He says he thinks very highly of Obama's next Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel.
Congressman Frank says the House will vote on an economic recovery program the week after next. He isn't sure how the Senate will vote on it.
He says last month, Congress helped to keep credit moving, and "now it's time to help the rest of the country.... It's time to give money for the state so construction projects don't shut down. so we have the benefit of the highways... and we get some people employed."
Frank says his top two priorities are to increase regulations and affordable rental housing.
"We've got to adopt regulations that constrain activity in the financial community that will keep us from getting into the bind we got into. We cannot allow the large financial institutions, the hedge funds, and investment banks to engage in the kind of reckless financial activity they did." He added, "We will continue the process of saying you can't lend money to poor people who can't pay you back."
"Unlike what we saw under George Bush, a major part of my goal is not to push people into buying a home they can't afford. I always thought that was a mistake and I was critical of it."

Exactly the reasons why the perp SHOULD BE REMOVED AND IMPRISONED!
Effin' Kerry may be deployed to make gaffes worldwide. Maybe Massachusetts will seek 'change' after their heroes assume room temperature...
“He says he has tremendous opportunities now in the House.”
Taxpayers, if you drop the soap in the shower DO NOT bother to pick it up!!
Barney just doesn’t want to leave his friends behind. (double entendre alert!)
I thought maybe the compassionate Barney Frank would be sitting watch with Teddy and take his slot first.
Please explain...
I think they would give that Senate seat to one of the Kennedy spawn as a divine right, probably the one who is in bed with Hugito Chavez.
Seniority. If he moved to the Senate, he’d have to start all over again.
I’m sorry, it’s rather crude and unbecoming.
If you change “friends” to “friend’s” and consider Barney’s proclivities....
“Unlike what we saw under George Bush, a major part of my goal is not to push people into buying a home they can’t afford. I always thought that was a mistake and I was critical of it.”
I think he means ‘...under Clinton...’, not Bush.
WOW that’s a first-Barney Frank doesn’t want some other guy’s seat.
Anybody remember the “Adam & Eve not Barney & Steve” bumper stickers?
Bawney Fwank has already handcuffed taxpayers to the floor with legs spread wide.
The Pages are cuter in the House...
Bawney may not want Kerry’s Senate seat, but he’d probably like Kerry’s SEAT
(and maybe vice versa).
The old story of the accounting clerk who didn’t miss a day of work for 45 years.
The week after he retires his replacement realises he embezzled from the company for decades.
This is Barney Frank’s dilemma.
He probably likes the Pages in the house better.
