Barack Obama made history today in Nebraska.

Barack Obama The Democratic presidential candidate claimed an electoral vote in the Omaha-based 2nd Congressional District the first time in more than four decades a Democrat won any of Nebraskas electoral votes.
The Omaha World-Herald is calling the race after Obama won 8,434 out of 15,039 early votes that arrived too late to be included in Tuesdays results. They were counted today by Douglas County election officials.
Those ballots give Obama a 1,260-vote lead over Republican John McCain in the 2nd District.
It also added one more electoral vote to Obamas win over McCain in Tuesdays election. The electoral count now stands: Obama, 365, McCain, 162.
Only Missouris 11 electoral votes remain up in the air.
"We always knew we could do it, but it would be an uphill climb. Its great to see a little corner of Nebraska turn blue," said John Berge, state director for Obamas campaign. He said the win was a testament to all the work done by Obama staffers and volunteers.
Nebraska was one of the last states whose presidential race was in question after Tuesdays election. The other state left to be called is Missouri.
Obama won only one of Nebraskas five electoral votes. The other four went to McCain.
This is the first time since 1964 that a Nebraska electoral vote has gone to a Democrat. The state has been reliably Republican since Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson in his landslide victory over Barry Goldwater.
Obama aggressively ignored Nebraskas red hue this year, as he sent 16 paid staffers and opened three offices in Omaha. It was part of his strategy to expand the electoral map, and to fight for votes in traditional GOP strongholds.
A 1991 state law allowed Obama to concentrate his efforts on the Omaha metropolitan area, where Democrats outnumber Republicans.
Nebraska and Maine are the only two states in the nation that split its electoral votes based on congressional district. All the other states award their electoral votes on a winner-take-all system.
Nebraska is the first of the two to split its electoral votes.
Yes it made me a little sick when I saw it. I had laughed off the thought this would happen. This was one slick move by Zer0bama.
“And hes a RINO weasel whos not strong on keeping his word.”
Oh was he one of the bailout vote switchers?
Buyers remorse in the middle or any insane conservative who voted for him? Wait until he gets sworn in. These people have no clue the evil they voted for. Hillary is a choir girl by comparision. Bill Clinton for all of his endless faults was a moderate Democrat who has major issues but he probably does care for this country. Obama probably isn’t even a citizen.
My only hope is Mitch McConnell from KY can try to stop as much as he can. Does anyone know if we have enough House seats and Blue Dog House members in shaky districts to slow them down?
Vlad Putin? I am not worried about Russia. At least I know Putin is not a Muslim.

for those who haven’t heard/seen this...
Apparently even Tom Brokaw and Charlie Rose didn’t even have a clue
on the topic “Who is the real Obama?”.
Even on Thursday night before the election..

No kidding. What happened? It hit hard when I read this. There’s no spinning it anymore. We did horrible. I mean how could we lose any of Nebraska. We lost by 12 point in Nebraska. That’s a 14 point swing. This economic crisis hit us hard but it was more than that. We need to organize much more in 2012 and articulate conservatism MUCH better. I made an exception for John McCain because of his overwhelming experience and becuase I don’t pick Senators, I thought it would be Hillary, but he underperformed. He did fine coming out of the convention but he didn’t have a clue about how to approach the economy until Joe the Plumber. It was too late.
“Oh was he one of the bailout vote switchers?”
Yes, he was. Also, he was elected in 1998 running on a term-limits pledge, than he reneged on his pledge within a week of winning the election.
You think that ACORN was in Omaha, too? I’m starting to wonder.
Given how low Bush and GOP ratings were, it could have been a lot worse. I find it a relief that McCain won 47% of the vote.
His mom was hot in that movie.
Ernie Chambers is probably kicking himself that he didn’t run for Congress against Terry. If they could elect that the totalitarian pig in Omaha, they could elect the man who sued God.
An amusing point. If I were a Nebraska Freeper, I would focus (after taking a break from politics) on finding a real conservative to take Terry out in the 2010 Republican primary.
...And I tend to think that if leftists are going to get elected to Congress, they should be the most bombastic, ugly and offensive cretins as can be found. Replacing them with quieter members that vote identical does NOT help our cause. Prime example, Cynthia McKinney. That district wasn’t going to elect a Republican (what small window of opportunity we had disappeared in the mid ‘90s). Instead, some FReepers cheered on her being beaten by both Denise Majette in ‘02 and Hank Johnson in ‘06. Both Majette and Johnson had more pleasant personalities, but voted almost identical to how McKinney would’ve. How on earth can we prop up Hank Johnson, a Buddhist, as a villain when he’s not some wild-eyed anti-Semitic racist loon ? A Congressman Ernie Chambers (who would’ve been the first member in the history of Congress to show up at the swearing-in wearing a t-shirt and faded jeans) would be a gold mine.
You make a good point. The petite, amiable Majette was a pleasant even to Congressional Republicans, and Hank Johnson is a mild-mannered, inoffensive personality. That may be easy on Republicans on The Hill, but it’s much more helpful to the conservative grass roots to have had McKinney still there.
Good for Nebraska. Maybe Obama can win the whole state next time. /only half-sarcasm
The electoral college results were horrible as was congress and local races. Surely fraud was factor in Omaha as in any very close content.
The popular vote % for McCain was respectable considering. The college results magnified zero’s win.
You are right, it’s a mental trap to support the “better” rat in safe rat seats.
