MONTPELIER (AP) Vermont appears to have regained its position as the most liberal state in the country, exceeded only by the District of Columbia.
Associated Press exit polling this week found 32 percent of Vermont respondents choosing liberal, rather than moderate or conservative, to describe themselves.
Massachusetts and New York were close behind, with 31 percent in each state calling themselves liberal. Twenty-two percent took that label nationally.
In Vermont, 44 percent of survey respondents called themselves moderate, and 24 percent said they were conservative.
Sadly,I had underestimated how many loons, Socialist and Moonbats had managed to infiltrate our [once] Conservative and beautiful State, for I have saying that we were in the top 5, but this surprised even me.
As someone who grew up here in the 50's I can tell you exactly when everything started going "south"--including many conservatives.
It was when Bernie Sanders trekked up here from The Big Apple and got involved in politics.
Thereafter, there was a deluge of far left Socialist (THE CALLED THEMSELVES "PROGRESSIVES")who migrated here from such bastions of loon-states as Conn., Taxachusetts, Rhode Island, New York and other "Flatlander" environs.
They had $$, time on their hands; were experienced in "taking over;" got involved in politics from school boards to state Legislature; coupled with 60's leftover, radical teachers and college profs, it was "incramentalism" liberal-creep, at its worst.
THEREFORE, PLEASE SEND CARDS OF CONDOLENCE OR KIND WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT--OR BETTER YET, HOW ABOUT A NICE BOTTLE OF CROWN ROYAL AND A COUPLE OF CIGARS SO THAT THIS NAM VET CAN MOURN IN STYLE? lol
This is what I posted on the Free Press Blog, which also carried the story and where here in Burlington, is the heart and soul and greatest concentration of extreme leftist, Vt Moonbats.

In the words of Jim Nabors: "Surrrrprise, surrrrrprise!!"
I must stand corrected.
In the past (circa 2000) I was telling everyone that Vermont was in the top 10 of the most liberal of states.
Starting about 5 years ago, I moved it up to the top 5.
Now, I guess its undeniable, The People's Socialist Republic of Vermont IS NO. 1.
YAHOO!!!
Really something to be proud of all ye far left libs, Socialist, Commies and Moonbats. Merci Beaucoup!
And to think we--no scratch that--"Y'all", beat out extreme far left, loon, states like Kalifornia, Taxachusetts and New York.
Is there a prize that goes with this "HONOR?" You know, maybe a trophy with a "Hammer and Sickle" on top?
Engraved with: "FROM EACH ACCORDING TO HIS ABILITY--TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS NEEDS."
and "Thank you comrades Mao, Lenin and Stalin, for showing us 'FELLOW TRAVELERS the way?!!!"
And now to top is off, y'all soon will have sitting in the Oval Orifice, one of your own: DEAR LEADER.
GOD HELP US!
As I have decided to do in Kalifornia, you need to vote the only way left to you: You need to change your moniker to Conservative TEXAS Vet.
Comrade, I ‘feel’ your pain, I live in the most glorious gulag of Marxichusetts.
Thank you friend. I'm semi-retired (and soon retarded if I don't get out of here) and next year, I'll be fully retired and will be leaving here never to return.
Lived in beautiful Texas (Austin) for a year when I got back from Nam. Loved it.
Also lived in N.J. and D.C. (BOTH OUT!) and Virginia, but it appears to be headed blue.
Not sure where I'll end up, but I KNOW IT WILL BE A TRUE RED STATE.
My Prayer daily to GOD: "LORD PLEASE SPARE ME FROM LIBS, LOONS and FAR LEFT, SOCIALIST MOONBATS"!!! lol
Al Jazeera English Stays On in Burlington, Vt.
Municipal cable company Burlington Telecom reaches agreement to continue carrying network after controversy.

Al Jazeera English — the English language spinoff of the controversial international Middle Eastern news network — will stay on in Burlington, Vt.
Municipal cable company Burlington Telecom reached a contractual agreement with the network to continue carrying Al Jazeera English.
The channel has been available on BT since January 2007. But controversy erupted earlier this summer when BT general manager Chris Burns announced that he was dropping the channel due to what he characterized as persistent viewer complaints. However, a series of public forums to discuss the matter produced a lopsided majority in favor of keeping the channel.
Burlington; Toledo, Ohio; and Washington, D.C., are the only markets where Al Jazeera English is available.
Not sure if Gov Jim Douglas is conservative or not but he is Republican—I saw election returns on Burl Free Press
site and it looks like he got 55 per cent of vote with
96 per cent of precincts reporting (I read somewhere the
leader in gov race must get over 50 per cent or the
Legislature chooses gov.)
Lt Gov Brian Dubie (who calls into the Howie Carr show
once in awhile) is up 56-38.
IIRC, VT is one of those states where the gov and lt gov
can be of diff parties—CT in another. Some years ago,
didn’t the gov die in office (Richard Snelling?—R)
thus elevating Screamin’ Howie Dean to the governorship?
(Dubie also an R I believe)
I live in the relatively conservative state of New York! Did my state get less liberal or did Vermont just go nuts?
Back in the Eighties this state used to be a GOP lock. Now look at it.
Thank you friend.
If anyone should know how I feel its probably anyone from Kennedy/Kerry country.
I'd bet your not far behind?
God Bless and Keep the faith!!!
Greetings Comrades From The Socialist People’s Republic of Maryland.
Soon, we will head South to find some real Americans in the Great State of South Carolina.
It’s nice to be a white liberal in Vermont and Oregon without many of them blacks and hispanics around!!

I note here
http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20081107/NEWS03/311070001
that the 4 towns that voted red were Norton, Searsburg,
Stratton, and Lemington. McCain’s margin of victory in
Stratton: 5 votes. In Lemington: 1 vote
and Burlington went for Obama 17,252 to 3,086.
Oooh: Montpelier went 3,899 to 809 for B.O.
I will be happy to send you care packages, a secret radio so you can listen to the resistance leaders from friendly territories and some note on how the Tibetans cope with a brutal Marxist regime.
Other than that I could arrange a secret rendezvous and speed you out of the state in an definitely environmentally unfriendly SUV.
Bring the syrup, leave the idiots.
Hey comrade-er neighbor! I’m also living amongst the “Vermin” here. Looks like just under 40% here voted McCain. BTW: Vermont produced HOWARD DEAN!
Vermont is a rotten state...
Douglas is an F'n RINO, with a Capital R.
NO WAY a "real" Republican--much less a Conservative--will get elected to higher office here.
You absolutely correct. Screamin Deanin replaced Snelling when he passed on due to a heart attack.
He was the last Conservatives (maybe somewhat mod) we had and that was about 20 years ago.
