Vermont is a rotten state...
Politically yes, but a good place to visit (covered
bridges, nice scenery, maple syrup, good restaurants,
Lake Champlain, etc.) It’s come a long way from Cal Coolidge.
Four New Yorkers later became well known in Vermont:
ice cream mavens Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield (very lefty),
Screamin’ Howie Dean, and Comrade Bernie Sanders, who went from Burl. mayor to rep. and now Senator. While in Vermont a couple years ago, I’d head his ads on the radio and a most
un-Vermont accent would come out: “Hoy! Oym Boynie Sandizz!”
