ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Nicole Platt says she experienced some of the worst moments of her life Wednesday night.
Platts two year old grand-daughter was attacked by an abandoned pit bull she brought home.
"I don't think I'll ever forgive myself for bringing that dog here," said Nicole Platt wiping away tears.
"I have a lot of guilt because I did bring the dog here trying to do a good thing," Platt added. "The dogs hadn't been fed watered stuff like that so I brought him home trying to find a home for him."
Platt said her family was eating dinner in the yard when she heard her grand-daughter crying. VIDEO: --Grandmother brings home pit bull that attacks two year old
"Kileah was patting the dog and the next thing I know he had her on the ground," said Platt. "I went running outside her mother had already picked her up I took and I held pressure on her face and cheek."
Platt's grand-daughter was bitten in the face. She has puncture wounds on her left ear.
"They put stitches in the back (of the ear), Platt said. She went to the plastic surgeon this morning, but they're concerned about her hearing whether or not it affected her hearing.
Though doctors are unsure if her hearing is affected, Platt says she is thankful her granddaughter will be okay, but she regrets ever bringing the dog home.
"They said if he would've gone an inch lower he would've gotten her jugular vein, Platt said. Then there would've been nothing we could've done, guilt there's no words to explain.
She is very likely the child wasn’t killed. Those dogs are dangerous and I don’t see how anybody could bring one into a home with a child. What is wrong with a a beagle? If a beagle has a bad day it can’t rip your face off or kill a full grown human.
er lucky. its been a long week ;(
Age and wisdom dont necessarily equate.
Did the report say if there was an Obama sign in the front yard? Dumb people do dumb things.
Kill all the PitBulls!
End the breed!!!
I say this as someone who has had a run in with one of these critters.
Grandma is as dumb as a bag of hair.
I don’t know when Americans are going to realize the the Pit Bull Terrier breed is an exotic animal, and should only be owned by people with special licensing and facilities to contain them.
The original Terrier breed was originally bred by English farmers to hunt and kill rodents and other vermin to protect their harvested crops. The instinct to attack is in their DNA.
I find it refreshing that Grandma is taking responsibility for her actions. Prayers for the little girl. I hope long term damage is minor. Grandma probably won't be stupid in this way again. Prayers for her as well.

I can understand your anger. I've had my own run ins with them.
I’m guessing Mom and Dad aren’t around?
I would bet that this grandmother is none of those things....
Poor baby, poor Grandma.
Can someone still earn a Darwin Award if they get their grandchild killed and end their bloodline that way?
My inlaws had a dog dropped off at their farm last summer...it kept hanging around, and no lost ads were posted. They couldn’t quite figure out what breed it was...it looked familiar.
Then came the day it latched on to their family dog and wouldn’t let go of its head. Once they finally beat if off with a club, it acted totally normal again. They then recognized the pit bull features.
Final result...it was taken on a walk into the woods where a well-placed shot ended its potential for future harm.
BTW, I love dogs and have a 13 y/o Blue Heeler...but I do not grieve that dog’s demise.
Some people are morons.
Is that the sound of dueling banjo’s I hear, as I read this post?
Why didn’t I see the parent being charged for neglect. That child should not have been left unattended. If she was attended the person doing so should be charged with child endangerment.
It was stupid to have such a powerful animal left unattended, too.
They are not evil dogs but in the hands of stupid people bad things can happen easily.
One of the best dogs I ever was blessed to have live with me was a pit bull. RIP, Total
Momma was in the yard, with both the child and the (for lack of a better term) dog.
Eating in the same backyard, where a strange dog terminator and a toddler were both running loose.
