Apparently, the first dog is not happy about the impending changes at the White House.

Today, Barney bit a reporter outside the briefing room. The whole incident was caught on tape by another reporter, April D. Ryan.
Reuters political reporter Jon Decker had finished an interview with MSNBC around 10:30 a.m. when he saw Barney and his handler. After getting permission to pet the dog, Decker said Barney snapped and chomped down on his right index finger and broke the skin.
Decker said his first reaction was, "that's not good."
Decker said he was treated with a bandage and some antibiotics and was asked to return for a tetanus shot Friday. He has not gotten any calls from the White House.
A colonoscopy wouldn't be out of the question!
One reason I never pet other peoples dogs.
I should take my Chow-Shepherd to the White House. She nips everyone!
Good doggie!
I laughed when I heard this today.
Barney has a home page on whitehouse.gov:

but I couldn’t find where to send comments directly to him.
However, could probably send atta boy, praising comments to Barney here:
I sure hope Barney will be OK to do his annual Barney cam at Christmas - love those!
The dreaded "Four-M" .... arrrrrrrgh! :)
Then it's good to hear you do not live up to your screen name. :) Contrary to popular belief, just because a dog's tail is wagging doesn't necessarily mean he's happy. It's not a true indicator of a dog's mood.
Unquestionably. All I can figure is that the reporter's move toward the dog's mouth was sudden.
Oh, man is that true. I used to be owned by a large mixed-breed that would wag his tail and actually smile the entire time he was plotting how to kill something. He was a sweetheart if you belonged here, though.
Actually, depends on HOW the tail wags. Some is cheerful and receptive, other is wary and anxious or uncertain.
Go Barney!!!!
What took you so long! LOL!
All these warnings about dog signs are nice, but the truth is, many dogs are amenable and not so untrustworthy as to attack someone until their buttons have really been pushed. I wouldn’t doubt the dog is unstable and/or as with most WH dogs (and most American dogs, generally), totally uncontrolled/trained/conditioned.
Love Barney. He knows scum when he sees it.
Quite correct!
Our Japanese Akita hasn’t ever bitten, thank God. I know he would come under the dangerous animal rules. He is very self-contained and will grumble at someone if he is cranky or block them if they don’t have the permission he thinks they need to go further. He weighs 110 and is the ultimate unmovable object. Usually, he loves attention and gives hugs while standing for pets. He knows what Pretty Boy means!
However, once, a woman he knew visited with her husband, whom he did not know and who is also an SOB. Our boy took one look at the husband and promptly raised his leg and peed right next to him, on the trash can. He has never done that before or since. I am sure he was marking his territory and wanted the guy gone.
He pegged the guy perfectly.
It woulda been perfect if he peed on this guys leg instead, hehehe.
Given the way most reporters behave, Barney’s actions were probably justifiable. Hopefully, he’ll bite a pollster, too.
He should leave a surprise for Zerobama under the President’s bed.
