Fox Dishes The Dirt On Palin
Washington Independent ^ | 11/6/08 9:25 AM | Matthew DeLong

The effort within the McCain campaign’s upper ranks to pin Sen. John McCain’s loss of the presidential election on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is now in full swing, and Fox News’ Carl Cameron eagerly plays the gossip columnist.

On “Fox Report” last night with Shephard Smith, Cameron said he learned during the campaign that many within the McCain team were concerned that Palin “lacked the degree of knowledgeability” to be a heartbeat away from the presidency — but agreed not to report the details until the after the election.

HEAR HEAR

We lose with moderates and RINOs. We win with Conservatives. I saw something the other day that said when the GOP picks a moderate (four of five times in the past) we lose. When we pick Conservatives (six times) we win. The only moderate that won was George Herbert Walker Bush. But he rode the coattails of the great Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Can we step back and separate McCain from his campaign staff regarding the attacks on Sarah Palin? I don’t believe for one minute that Sen. McCain himself took any part in or condoned this behavior, but believe he would have fired those who have attacked Gov. Palin.

And let us look at this election from an historical perspective. In the history of the US there have only been 3 instances where a POTUS completing his second term was succeeded by someone from his own party. The most recent instance was GHWB following an extremely popular Reagan. For ANY Republican to have won this year would have been a miracle.

Conservatives may be the base of the GOP, but no one will ever be elected with only that constituency. Obama won because he reached out and picked off small segments of the traditional Republican base. Conservatives have to learn to reach out beyond the ideologically pure. The god of conservatism knew that. Reagan was able to reach out and grab the union workers. Today’s conservative leaders and rank and file will have to figure out who among the Dem base might join them. That is not done by stridency and dumping those who are not onboard 100%.

Somebody needs to burn Fox News to the ground. Sarah is the only bright light in this election. McCain would have lost by 20 points and they know it.

FOX, you have lost me as a viewer. I was with you from the beginning. I used to switch all the TVs at Cosco, Hotel lobbies and other places to you. Now, I will just shut you off.

Someone needs to start a real conservative cable news network. An unashamed conservative new network without any leftwing opinions. An allegiance with Rush, Levin, Ingraham, Bennett, Huckabee, Beck and others. Start small, but please start and please have it in the Atlanta market. I am dropping charter cable this month. If you form a new conservative cable station, I will again get cable or the dish. Thank you,

Here’s a clue for those nancy-boys on McCain’s team. Gov. Palin was the only reason we voted for him.

Without Palin on the ticket, it would've been a wipeout. Obama would've won 45 states.

The tone of your demand is uncalled for. But, what am I to expect from someone who apparently is google challenged.

If you didn't like the tone of that one, you're not going to like the tone of this one, either...

There, enjoy.

Ah, you took it from the "anonymous sources" from the Cameron report. You base your opinion of Palin on a BS report in the enemy media?

That settles it. You're an idiot. Go pound sand.

Up hill battle, that is for sure.

I try and explain to people the history of the printing press. Since it’s conception, it has printed for one party or the other. There really has never been a free press that looks out for all the people. Just one press or the other that prints for one party or the other.

I don’t think this is the end all, but I think folks start looking at the news as more biased.

redstate.com apparently has started a lepper list for the people who are doing this “take out palin” campaign.

It is people positioning for jobs in 2012.

also it appears the woman who is most angry at palin is her press secretary handler. Palin kept going off the beltway approved talking points.

Apparently it is PALIN who forced mccain and co to use “joe the plumber”!!!!!!!!!

I am vote #1; how about the rest of you?

There are still some hints of populism in Governor Palin that concern me, so I'm not close to being ready to annoint her as the next Reagan. However, I absolutely voted for Palin in spite of McCain, and wouldn't have bothered casting a vote for president had she (or another actual conservative) been on the ticket.

And I consider Cam-moron and O'Bloviator's smear of Palin to be one of the most disgusting things I've ever witnessed on Fox. It's almost like they're trying to become ms-nbc lite.

"That settles it. You're an idiot. Go pound sand."

And unlike you, I know the forum rules.

"Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts."

I'll report this to the mods, perhaps they can clarify it for you?

I’m a “broken-glass” republican - have been since Reagan. This year was the first year that I did NOT vote in the primaries because by the time the selection reached Ohio the only choice was McCain - and I wasn’t voting for McCain. When I voted on Tuesday, I voted with pride for the Republican ticket - BECAUSE OF SARAH PALIN!

A tasteless but fitting finale to an incompetent campaign whose motovation was “It’s my turn because George Bush stole the primary from me in 2000.”

The incompetence and poor judgement doesn’t lie with the junior member of the team who had little to do with the campaign message or strategy.
Was it Sarah Palin who made the stupid decision to grant FIVE interviews with Katie Couric?
Was it Sarah Palin who made the decision that Reverend Wright was out of bounds?
Was it Sarah alin who voted for the bailout while claiming to be a maverick and an agent of change?

And what is to be gained by stabbing Sarah in the back like this?
It just gives fuel to the leftist media and democrats who are happy to see republicans eat their own once more.

McCain was the candidate of the past. His campaign was led, run and staffed by wimps, losers and Bush castoffs who believed they could play nicey-nice sandlot softball against hardball pros.

It didn’t work for McCain or Bush when they spent their time kissing Ted Kennedy’s arse in the Senate so what made anyone think it would work in a fight for the biggest political prize of all?

The same people who not only let their president be trashed and ridiculed for eight years but joined in when it served their own agenda are now trying to destroy the only bright spot of the campaign in an effort to excuse their own narrow vision and incompetence.

The republican party will never win an election with people who do the democrats dirty work for them.

Neither, though, is it done by pandering -- which is what RINOs mean by "reaching out".

Instead, it is done as Reagan did it -- by standing steadfast on conservative principle and making conservatism appealing to segments beyond the base.

It is we who need to convert others; not we who need to dilute and "refine" our principles.

I just had to tolerate 2 obomite co-workers who never watch fox but who switched it on last night for schodenfraude. They were absolutly gleefull at the Oreilly bash Sarah attack. I told them I will vote for Sarah in 2012 and that she was the best of all 3 candidates.

I didn't see the bash of one of the best of us, but their reactions and this thread have convinced me never to give FOX or O'Reilly another chance. Screw Them!
