We need to network our activities people. The PUMAs fooled us. I saw the exit polling data, and it showed that single/divorced woman turned out for Eclair by a wide margin. We were duped by Hillary. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on ME. We are no doubt under seige. Fascists at the top, working class moderates/liberals and the poor at the bottom.
They are very well organized, and they plan to exterminate us. Right now, they're coordinating their next move on us. We can't get involved in our minute differences. We fundamentally have the same ideals. So wake up, true conservatives. No waffling, no cowardice, an certainly no naiivete!
Free Republic is Drowning in Vanity Postings—Please Stop
it wasn’t just the websites. It was a major part of mccain’s campaign. Major feminists at the rallies. The hillary mortgage idea that mccain dropped during the 2nd debate. The hillary robocalls.
Pffft. "Moderate" Republicans demanded (and were given) carte blanche opportunity to demonstrate, once and for all, that they knew how to win at the national level, this year.
They got exactly the candidate they wanted. They got exactly the party platform they demanded. The campaign was run exactly the way they insisted it be run.
How'd that end up working out for us, again...?
They actually managed to lose to a one-term Senate Marxist with open and unapologetic terrorist ties. The ONLY thing I want to hear from Team McCain or any of its shrill little online apologists, from this day forward, is a meek and contrite: "We're sorry."
They have nothing else worthwhile what. so. EVER. to contribute to any meaningful discussion, re: either conservatism or winning electoral strategies.
"Moderates" have conclusively demonstrated, once and for all, that they know how to lose like nobody's business. How very, very... helpful.
You were saying — “and the conservatives stayed home.”
Well, the conservatives in Oklahoma didn’t stay home. As an example of what conservatives can do, look at the 66% for McCain in Oklahoma. That’s the largest percentage for McCain in all the states (for the Republican ticket).
Compared to Democrat states, only two exceeded Oklahoma in their percentages for the Democrat ticket (they were Hawaii and Vermont). No other Democrat states (for the Democrat ticket) exceeded the percentages of Oklahoma.
Perhaps we should start looking toward Oklahoma for what the Republicans should do...
Yes. In another time, we wouldn’t have been running against a young, black, attractive, articulate, and hip candidate. That’s why a 72 year old man didn’t help. Not to mention he was not a conservative.
How the GOP did not see this is what really amazes me.
I agree completely about single-divorced women being a Democratic constituency. That together with the youth and first-time voters put Obama over the top. Going into the election, many pundits predicted it would not be a Republican year. They were right. But for McCain to keep it as close in the battleground states is a testament to his -never-give-up mentality but above all his selection of Sarah who brought more people into McCain’s tent than was otherwise possible before the Republican convention. Let’s just accept defeat and move on and be more determined to defeat Obama in 2012.
they were upset at the Palin pick. but come on. mccain was loooosing in the polls until he picked her.
I would agree that the PUMA movement was probably McCain campaign astroturfing. Only 18% of Hillary supporter voted McCain, which is about 9% of dems overall. Roughly the same percentage of Reps (RINOs and Retards) voted Obama.
I think one MAJOR CHANGE that needs to be made to the Republican primary system is proportional awarding of convention delegates. The winner take all system has failed us because the “institutional” pick wins with 32% of the vote in 4 states. Letting a bunch of Proletarian Iowa farmers and New Hampshire crossover Dems pick our candidate has really screwed us since Reagan. Think about it, we really are allowing blue states to pick our candidate. Perhaps we need regional primaries. That way, the strongest candidates is/are building campaign infrastructure in each state. Why don’t republicans win in New England or in the west, but at the same time a gay marriage ban passes in CA. I am tired of this bullshit writing off of states. We have conservatives who are stuck in the closet because they think their state is totally liberal and loves welfare and taxes. The Republican Party has let these citizens down by ignoring their states. When we only fight on our turf, the enemy also only fights on our turf, AND THEY JUST WON. We need a campaign that fights for even the bluest state of Vermont. Did anyone else notice that Obama only got 6.2 million votes in CA and 4.3 million votes in New York?
Screw the conventional wisdom that we can’t win these states. There are citizens there who believe in the same conservative principles that we do. I realize the dem institutional machines are in place, but they are old and established, and I believe they can be beaten with some effort, organization, a clear conservative message, and some creativity.
Or on the other hand, we can just keep writing those states off and just try to win every future election with 270-290 electoral votes. IT IS ABSURD THAT THERE ARE NO HOUSE REPUBLICANS IN NEW ENGLAND. But if conservatives never go there, never run for office, never try to spread the message and win people over it will NEVER happen.
This loss is about bad ideas and bad organization. If we had slightly better message with much better organization, we would’ve won.
It's said that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but this old dog has learned his lesson - never again!
how can *any* white guy win against an Obama or Hillary? Especially after 8 years of Bush. Think about it. Obama was being merciful to McCain when he picked biden over hillary for VP.
I was eating breakfast in the hotel lobby and CNN was on already stating what Obama will do.
Please, I cannot take 24/7 coverage of a man who won't take office until two months from now.
Now if you excuse me, I have to go to work to support the new middle class.
You are right of course. I cant believe I didnt see it coming when all the indicators were there. And we fell for the PUMA scam, hook, line, and sinker..(at least I did)
Hey, 11% of an opposing party’s base is pretty incredible.
Get over yourself. McCain, and conservatives who stayed home, did this.
Look on the bright side. The power leeching Neocons will now return to the Democrat Party and proceed to take it over and ruin it too. The GOP can start with a clean slate of conservatives. Start with a positive 2010 Contract with America.
Hey, “Mr. Know It All,” get your head out.
15-20% of Democrats, with over 10% of Hillary supporters, voted for our guy.
The problem was with McCain himself and that conservatives didn’t turn out. Look at the numbers Bush had in 2004. Do you think Hillary or Kerry people supported Bush at the rate of 15-20% then to make his number many millions more than McCains total?
Get realm and get a brain, Know It All.
15-20% of Democrats, with over 10% of Hillary supporters, voted for our guy.Did you make that number up or did it come to you in a hallucination? Those numbers are even close to reality.
Obama had support of at least 89% of Democrats and the number of Hillary supporters who voted for McCain couldn't even be measured.
Numbers from exit polls on ABC News election night.
Why go out of our way to blame PUMAS, conservatives, the media or any other group when in reality, we do not have to go further than the McCain campaign itself?
I have Dish Network and pay for a premium package because Fox News is not included with their basic service. I'm rethinking that decision.
