A lot of people want to be loyal.

George W Bush has been our “leader” for eight years. People deep down, want to be loyal to their leader. Especially conservatives. Remember that crowd of firefighters that day, surrounding President Bush yelling “USA! USA! USA!”.

It’s like the Blue Angels. One leader, the rest flying in formation. If the leader flies into the ground...

That’s why there are so many RINO’s.

RINO “leaders” have convinced too many, that’s how to win.

Clearly that’s how to ... LOSE.

We need Sarah Palin in 2012. America needs her. And we need to beat mercilessly (rhetorically speaking of course) any so-called Republicans who have the unmitigated audacity to attempt to blame Sarah Palin for McCain’s LAME CAMPAIGN.

My financial contribution to the party was sent to Sarah.
No Sarah no money. If the party doesn’t get straightened out they can forget me.

Were they all "smitten" or was her message of pro-growth, small government conservatism resonating?

Beats me. I think a lot of them were smitten. There was an election going on. The not-loved McCain was the candidate, and the vile Obama the opponent. People needed something to hang their hat on this year, and it was Sarah. Let's relax and see how she does over the next few years.

You can ignore her because she couldn't immediately come up with an answer on prior USSC decisions in 10 seconds

I'm not ignoring her. I'm saying that I accept her as a prospect, but not as the Anointed. I want to see competition. I want to see us try to find someone better, just because it's the smart thing to do.

I'd like a candidate who, for one, can make a strong case for a limited Constitution protected by justices who do not legislate from the bench. The ability to cite at least ONE example is not too much to ask.

“””A better way to let your displeasure be known is to call the RNC office at 202-863-8500. Tell them to pass along your message to McCain to SHUT HIS STAFF UP. It is cowardly to let her take the fall for the loss. She is the one who energized the Republicans in America.”””

I just called the RNC Chairman’s office and asked them to ask the McCain staff and other Republicans to stop bashing Palin.

When you call the above number, hit “O” zero to get connected to the chairmans office.

On the issue of Sara Plain, perhaps wake up would be a better admonition to you. It isn’t just disgruntled conservatives, Rommenyites and Huckabees trying to put the kabosh on her. It is the entire Washington establishment. This isn’t an accident. They fear her. Why? Because, she is “us” and they do not want “us” taking over or even stemming the tide of the direction this country is heading. Don’t fall for their bull.

Oh I'm fully awake, no worries there and I am in agreement with Governor Palin on 99 percent of issues, if not 100%. She compares favorably with Teddy Roosevelt so far as relative experience is concerned, and I would have no trouble voting for her at the top of a future GOP ticket.

My concern is that she will now be tainted by this lopsided defeat of McRINO, who now joins former President Bob Dole in the category "candidates who got the nomination because it seemed like it was 'their turn'"

Until the GOP engages our common leftist enemies with ferocity, total partisanship, and taking no prisoners, returns to the fundamental principles of Reagan conservatism, we will be on the outside looking in, or perhaps in the most worst case scenario on the inside (of an 0bama Reeducation Kamp) looking OUT.

Dark times are ahead for America.

Perhaps they were drawn to her because of her conservative principles.

No one is anointing her. I believe the topic of this thread was how she is being blamed. We can throw another good conservative under the bus or we can admit McCain sucked. Our choice.

Conservative values still represent the majority of Americans. The Marriage Amendment votes in Florida and California confirm conservative values win elections.

And especially the Social Conservative issue which is what Sarah represents as these votes and the same results in 2006 where conservative state-wide ballot measures passed as well, while the rudderless GOP lost.

I left the Republican Party or as I now call it “The Progressive Lite Party” and joined the Conservative Party. I did this because I know there are Conservative Democrats in the spirit of Zell Miller who would join us as well. They will not join the Republican Party under any circumstance.

“Can you give the reasoning behind your take that she is not a strong candidate?”

Sure. She came off to me as a bit shaky. Unsure of herself and lacking the self confidence and knowledge needed to express conservative ideals to the general population.

We all know that ANYONE that steps into the national spotlight, and claims to be a conservative, will be savaged by the press relentlessly. They must be able to overcome this in order to reach the numbers that we need.

Her candidacy felt rushed and poorly prepared to me. When questions were posed to her, I felt like she would often miss the central reasons for our stance on said issue.

Yeah, just like Reagan. "Mr.Reagan, can you name a SCOTUS decision that you disagree with?"

Um, uh, er, uh.

Sounds just like Reagan. Maybe she will be effective. That remains to be seen. Here's hoping we find two or three other quality prospects to compete against her, so we can maybe get the best possible candidate. Smitten is no way to go through politics.

Cherry pick statements all you want, but taking her performance in it's totality and her past record, she out-shone all of the other GOP candidates for President this election season.

And NONE of the other candidates electrified and got the GOP as excited as she did, not even Mr. Hair!

BTW, cherry-picking someone's statement is so DU!

To: Mr. Know It All

Okay, Mr. Know it All. 34% is obviously a ‘minority’ of 100%.....you’ve got liberals and independents and 34% conservative.....in the voting block they do not represent a minority of the voters. We’re pretty much broken up in 3 groups, like we’ve always been.

The point is this....conservatives still matter in large numbers whether the media and the GOP like it or not.
