Vanity: It's the Media, Stupid
vanity | 10-5-08 | Bob J

Posted on 11/05/2008 1:28:25 PM PST by Bob J

With all this navel gazing going on I might as well throw my own 2 cents in.

Right now conservatives are wailing and knashing their teeth trying to come up with reasons for our butt kicking. It's McCains fault, it's the RNC's fault, it was a bad strategy, the platform was wrong, the economic calapse did us in...blah, blah, blah.

Guess what, they're all correct answers to a degree. But we're never going to have the perfect candidates, the perfect strategies, the perfect party or the perfect environment.

Neither do the dems, but they won anyway.

There is only one reason why we lost, the relentless propaganda, spinning, mischaracterizing, lying and cheating by the MSM. Look at how they've depicted Bush, Cheney, their policies, the WOT, Chistianity, McCain, Palin and every conservastive principle we hold dear for the last 8 years.

I'm suprised we win any contests at all.

All this effort we put into building the party, candidates, issues, volunteering, donating, etc. is for nought because every time we step up to the plate we have 2 strikes against us and every swing has to be a home run. And that's never going to change, losing isn't going to change, until WE change that one simple equation.

Balancing the media, leveling the playing field won't be easy nor will it be quick. To do it we need to build an organization of 50 million members who are committed SOLELY to correcting this imbalance. It will take a staggering amount of time, manpower, organization and money.

But it can be done. Balancing the media isn't just a two-fer, it's a hundred-fer since it will positively effect every issue, policy, candidate and effort in which we engage.

We got to start playing smart.

Is there any movement to form another FOX News-type network? I have made all my family stop getting the Washington Post...

We need to speak with our feet and wallets and as the Liberals have done, do business with one another and find other conservatives to find ways of making money.

Starving a Liberal who craves the public teat is my way of making this place right again.

Ping...once the "free press" chooses sides, they become an arm of the government. The best thing to do is convince as many people as you can that the press is propaganda.

I told my dad I wished McCain would step aside and let Palin run. I heard Katie Couric feeding him his reply "She doesn't have much experience..."

I said "Yeah, great, look where the people with experience have left us..."

I agree 100% with you on this Bob. The media dictated the entire election starting with the primaries.

Right On Brother... many of us have been sounding this horn. The only chance conservatism has to survive in the future is to create it’s own media.

No, Bob. From a field of crappy candidates, the GOP picked, though the primaries, the crappiest of the crap.

Sorry, but McCain was lousy. If I, an AZ native, was willing to not vote at all rather than vote for this guy, then nobody should have had to.

You are exactly dead, right-on......Lincoln himself could not have fought off this media onslaught....been following presidential campaigns since 1956 and I have NEVER seen anything remotely like this.

1960 was bad...JFK was their god...but even then they reported what was going on in the campaign...this year they simply skipped any story that might hurt their messiah....and pounded the crap out of McCain and especially out of Palin......they have no shame......Joseph Goebbles could not have done a better job.

I know this isn’t worth much, but I will never watch the major nets or read the propaganda “newspapers” again.....if I find out who their sponsors are....I will boycott their products......anyone with me?

Buying the media would be counterproductive because all we would end up with is conservative incarnation of what we see now.

I fear the extreme right almost as much as the extreme left. Balance is the key. Put all the marbles out on the table and let the voters decide for themselves.

When that happens, we win 4 times out of 5.

We don’t need to re-invent the wheel, just fix the one already out there.

You should read them, you have to know your enemy bfore youcan defeat them.

All these haphazard calls for boycotts, etc., are counter productive. Build the organization of 50 mil, pick ONE target and let them decide whether they will balance themselves or be financially ruined.

Why choose 100 enemies and spread your resources when you can pick one and concentrate your firepower?

Once you got that notch on your belt business execs and Board of Directors will pee their pants just watching you walk into the room.

It has been going on for many years but it seemed to be way over the top this time. Actually it is all sorts of media. It has gotten to where you can't watch a TV show or movie without all kinds of liberal spin included and it has not just happened.

I was watching one TV show which had several anti White or Anti-Western or Anti-religion comments which had nothing to do with the show. I turned it off to watch Gunsmoke and sure enough there was a strong, "White man bad, Indian good" message and that was made in the 60's.

Aside from the Obama being the media’s “darling” from the beginning, what pissed me off the most was last night, watching FOX - they were calling states for the candidates when the screen showed <1% reporting. It seemed to me that they were deliberately sabotaging the outcome. I flipped through the other channels and it was the same thing. Really sickening. I don’t care what their “exit polls” say, don’t call the state till the votes are counted!!! It’s all for being “first to report” which does nothing but screw up peoples thought processes who haven’t voted yet.

Amen. We need a web site to identify worst offenders and through which we can protest in unison.
I used to be a newspaper junkie. Now I read none in hardcopy. I watch little TV, and only FNC when I do.

Good post, Bob. I’ve said throughout the last campaign that BH0 had another 527 on his side: the media. And for all those noninvolved people who don’t pay attention to anything but the “popular media,” that’s their daily dose of truth.

Your analogy is like assymetric warfare: We have to be right every time; they have to be right once in a while.

We need to analyze, organize, target and act. Starting now.
