I hope she gets named to the cabinet. Then, the Governorship of AZ moves from Dem to Rep.

I’ll help her pack her crap. And no doubt so will Sheriff Joe and Andrew Thomas.

Perfect. She’s run our state deep into the red and will help Obama do the same on a much larger scale. If she wasn’t gay, I’d say they make the perfect couple.

Sheriff Joe is the reason Napolitano was elected governor in the first place.
Can you explain that?

I thought when we moved from AZ to CA in 2006, that you had a surplus or at least balanced the budget. Did Nappy get the legislature to go on a spending binge?

Please name her to something, so AZ can elect a Republican.

When Napolitano was US Atty for Arizona during Clinton years, she had Arpaio nailed on federal civil rights violations. Instead of nailing him, they cut a deal whereby she sealed the investigation/findings and Arpaio made a worthless promise to clean up his act.
Fast-forward a few years: Democrat Napolitano runs for governor and Republican Arpaio endorses her.

Can you explain that? Republican Arpaio endorsed Napolitano for governor instead of her Republican opponent, Matt Salmon. His endorsement effectively handed the governorship to Napolitano.
It was quite obvious that Arpaio, who famously holds grudges, had endorsed her as a bit of petty payback to Arizona Republicans for not picking him to be the gubernatorial nominee.

That's true, but also recall that Arpaio had made it clear that he wanted to run for governor and he was peeved when he wasn't given the nod.

At least there is some good news for Arizona out of all this. Who would have thought that.
To: TenthAmendmentChampion
A few months ago I was talking with a gal who works as a campaign manager for local politicians, and she told me that Napolitano had run the state into debt but that it wouldn’t be until the next governor comes along for all her expenditures to take effect. You know, pass spending bills now to make voters happy, and then set a date at some point in the future for the bill to be paid.

Yes, I remember that now. Talking of holding grudges, someone I know quite, quite well is in the journalism business here in Arizona. For a decade or more he has been one of the few reporters that Arpaio would talk with. Recently, this person began to ask Joe where the money was coming from to pay for the county sherrif officers who accompany him as a bodyguard on his personal book-signing tours. Needless to say, this friend is now in the dog house with Arpaio and probably will be there forever.
