We have to elect state legislators who will vote for secession. It’s the first thing voted on every session. We need to quit doing it as tradition and really do it.

I was all for this in 2000 but it didn’t get much traction. I wrote my state rep and didn’t get a reply.

I totally agree. I think other southern states will join as well.

We can have a new Confederacy of freedom loving states. I would say a good poriton of the US Military is from the South and would not turn on their families.

That is why I am recommending the Guard to any young person who is considering military service. Support the state militias. They may be our saving grace from the Fed.

Yeah, that didn't work out too well...

There's often some chatter that Texas can legally secede but I've never found any language, anywhere, that supports that. Parenthetically there is a great thread from 2001 on secession here:

I might also add that the prospect of Texas being able to split into multiple states seems to be a canard as well.

Okay...but you’d have to dump the huge areas of Dallas County and Harris County because they voted by large majorities for Obama. Haven’t checked yet, but feel sure Jefferson County (Beaumont area) and El Paso County did the same. This means we’d have to slice and dice hundreds of thousands of people and where would we put them? Re-education camps? Oops, this is beginning to sound like Obama.

Think we had better go with winning hearts and minds back to our conservative principles. Or come live in Montgomery County with several hundreds of thousands of people who are about 90% Republican. Y’all come.

Coming to you from Houston here - we had a gathering last night - 20 or so - to watch our country go down the tubes. We joked at the end, before we bowed our heads to pray for the state of this country - that it could be the first meeting of the secession of Texas.

We have some basic infrastructure in place. Texas has it’s own electrical grid - we are joined to the rest of the country. Perhaps we could develop more of our own production and “wheel” it to the rest of the country?

Pfff, people on this forum have been ridiculous. So we lost the election. All that means is that the GOP needs to get back to its conservative roots and get its act together.

People seem to forget that you need a Jimmy before you get a Ronny.

Texas wouldn’t go anywhere... we refine 75% of the world’s oil. We could join OPEC and start charging Kalifornia some really outrageous prices. We would be a member of the G8 on par with France and Japan.

Texas is actually energy independent at the current time. We are a net-export state for electricity - i.e., we make more than we can use and sell it to the surrounding states.
