In 2004, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry won 74% of the Jewish vote, and in 2000, Al Gore received 79%.
The MSNBC data found the numbers amongst Christians in Tuesday's election were far closer, with 45 percent of Protestants and other Christians and 54% of Catholics voting for Obama. Together, they made up 81%of the poll sample.

Without strong support from the US, Israel will quickly diminish in political, social and military power.
They would be unable to withstand a total onslaught from all the Arab countries led by Iran with nukes.....
Will Europe help? Russia? China? You know that answer.....
Will Obama help? The answer is no, he'll sit it out to better our relationship with what is left of his Muslim brethren....
Yes....Israel will nuke them, but in the end, many in the Middle East will be glowing and Israel will exist no more....
Obama's right-hand man is Rahm Emmanuel, whose father was born in Israel and fought with the Irgun. Emmanuel was even a civilian volunteer in Israel during the first Gulf War.
IMO Rahm is a jerk, but please, no facts on the thread.
How do we really know how Jews voted? How are these exit polls done? I know most Jews voted for obama because most Jews are not religious, but are crazy left wing liberals. It’s very disappointing how Jews voted. But it is also unfair that we are all bunched together. After all, Orthodox Jews vote Republican, so it stinks that Jews and Judaism have to be regarded through the filter of our completely secular technically identified co-religionists.
So did about half of Catholic voters. Alas. Not everyone is as smart as you Alouette (or as informed).
I did a WOW as well when I saw the percentage. Really hard to believe they turned their back on Israel.
Well said and thanks for speaking for me.
You are a righteous one. Thanks, as ever, for being you. May we all dance together on her streets, in a whole city, the holy city ;)
I of course am disappointed in Jewish voting patterns (and everyone else's as well). But I've also been bracing myself for an anti-Semitic backlash as bitter FReepers express their completely understandable frustrations. In the midst of all this you come with words of wisdom and healing at a time when they are more sorely needed than ever before. For this may G-d bless you, and may He guide you always!
True. However, unlike other religious groups the total number of Jews is a corrupted statistic in America.
The anti-religious, non-practicing, and anti-Semitic communists are also lumped with actual Jews. 1/3 of American Jews are not Jewish on issues of faith.
Emmanuel’s father did a piss poor job, considering his son acts like a the type of Rabin-Palmach thug who enjoyed shooting at an Irgun ship.

I weep for, and am enraged at, the idiocy of my people. I didn’t vote for this empty-suited, lying friend of the enemies of Jews and Israel. I, at least, will have a clear conscience if G-d forbid something happens to Israel because this jackass abandons it.
