The "I'm pissed off" thread
freerepublic | jbwbubba

Posted on 11/05/2008 9:13:23 AM PST by jbwbubba

Yes its a vanity!!!

Who would like to see some Republicans come out and say I'm pissed off we lost? I'm mad as hell, and would like to break something. I'm already mad and seeing Republican after republican come out and talk about the "historic" context of this election, ticks me off even more!! Hell I expected McCain to give a gracious concession speech; but I almost expected him to say "why yes I actually voted for Obama myself". I wish any republican would show some freaking passion, show that you actually give a damn you lost

Thats a good point but can they really still claim all whites are racist when a black man is the President of the United States?

“I'm not pissed. I'm almost recharged. The reign of the the tyrant big-government Republican moderates is over. Now maybe this can be the start a a real conservative Republican movement.”
Moments like this bring clarity and strip excuses away.

Last night I had a hard time getting to sleep. This morning, my mind was in exactly the same place that you so very well phrased.

Time now for a laser beam focus and a tireless fight.

The Republicans need to quit focusing on what’s wrong with the Democrats and focus on whats wrong with themselves...

People NEED to quit suggesting false alternatives.

I am sorry to hear about your job loss. My son lost his job a month ago and my wife lost her job of nearly ten years last week, they also fired another employee who had been with them for over ten years at the same time. Don't worry about their bosses, they all have platinum parachutes.

May God continue to provide for you as you search for new employment.

“Time now for a laser beam focus and a tireless fight”

I would like to us use FreeRepublic to find a real solution.
I will not be led around by the political consultants that gave us last night.

I would like to see 2-4 core ideas distilled down that we can win with over maybe 2 months.
Ideas that we can bring independents and younger voters back to our side with.
Ideas like:

- A smaller, less intrusive government as a core idea.

Oh, things like the Boy Scouts will still get my charity.

My church has turned into a touchy-feely do-gooder institution.

Their monthly newspaper is crammed with things that the membership should volunteer to do. Here is a sample of the things listed for us to give to - monetarily and time-wise:

Rummage Sale - need donations of clothing, toys, books, house goods, sports equipment and more - If you can volunteer your time . . . .

Opportunities for missions: Habitat for Humanity - need volunteers to provide good affordable houses for people in need.

Global links - packing surplus medical supplies that are shipped to poor nations.

Angel Food Ministries - For $30.00 a month you can feed a family of four for a week. Volunteers needed to help distribute food once a month.

North Side soup kitchen - help prepare and serve food on the 4th Tuesday of each month.

My "Amazing Place" checklist: how shall I serve (acting, playing games, organizing, mentoring, teaching, cooking, decorating, crafting, being with children, helping from home; when shall I serve (Sunday morning, Wednesday evening, weekdays, weekend retreats, Friday after work, summer); How often shall I serve (once a week, once a month, twice a month, a 3-6 week unit, occasionally)

Care Team: short worship services at a couple assisted living homes, sending cards, calling cancer patients, sewing or crocheting prayer quilts and prayer shawls, making and or delivering meals.

Helping to build homes in a sister city in West Virginia.

Helping ministry in Kenya.

Helping Louisiana's Houma Indian Tribe and how they were affected by Hurricane Katrina

On top of this is the request for monies to help pay off their super church, funds, etc.

What I notice is 90% of this outreach is to people living far far away. I don't see any help for the neighbor up the street who just lost their job. Just because this is in a successful area of town doesn't mean that there aren't some folks in the area hurting.

I don't believe Christ's message was to save the world and ignore the neighbor you step over to do that.

All these are fine intentions. It doesn't make one a Christian. All this is for naught if one doesn't learn the Bible front to back and understand the message and reason for all of what humanity has to go through to exist.

When can I take the time to understand the message of God when my time is filled with work and packing boxes and setting up stands and pounding nails, etc.

The focus of this church has moved from teaching the Bible's message and making sure its members know that to their very soul to plays and musicals and picnics and happy programs so no one feels bad.

The practice of tithing was set up to have monies and supplies for the local population during bad times. Poorer folks were allowed to glean from the farms on the outer perimerters of land, not run roughshod all over and destroy the owner's hard work and business. It was substenance charity for all in that neighborhood - not building a house for someone hundreds of miles away who can't afford the upkeep and will let it go to pot in a few years.

I really believe Christ's vision of charity was for the people you regularly rub elbows with.

The Amish appear to me to have the best outlook on charity.

This is sooo horrendous. I can’t remember ever being so frustrated and disappointed in my entire life... This is comparable to when I found out that my father died. He was 68, which kind of implies that I won’t live to be very old... So, I got over it and planned my life accordingly... Now, I find out that I will spend 4-8+ years of my life in a liberal-dominated America. So, I’m getting over it and planning my life accordingly. While I’m going into politics to try to institute a conservative revolution, I doubt it will happen, so if it doesn’t work out, I’m going to get fluent in Spanish and move to South America, and maybe buy a piece of land from a country to establish a theocratic republic. Who’s with me for Plan A, and if worst comes to worst, Plan B??

Most probably did vote for Obama, but some did not. And you don’t know who is who. If you want to be cheap, just come out and say it, don’t hide behind politics.

I'm going to be really cheap and stay out of the restaurants altogether.
Hope that meets with your approval.
I plan to "spend" the money elsewhere, but I don't feel an overwhelming need to prove it to you or to anyone else.

Those rare waiters and waitresses better start wearing buttons that say:

"Don't Blame Me
I voted for McCain"

I work at a hospital that cut out some staff in the last couple of weeks.

Mostly middle management. Goodness knows the vp's presidents and C_O's won't lose their jobs and probably will continue to get their bonuses and perks running to the millions and 18% raises every year.

However, they are cutting some ancillary staff such as food service, housekeeping. I already see some difficulty in getting things done right from my perch directly by the patient rooms.

It is time that we once again become the loyal opposition. Don't get me wrong, this is not what I wanted, but no one here can say it was unexpected...

Baloney...which is milder than the first word that came to mind. I've spent the last eight years watching W get beat up for "taking the high road." I've spent the last two years watching 'Pubs get beat up by the media.

This genteel, Noblesse Oblige cr@p has to stop, which is why I will never again vote for a 'Pub who isn't a street fighter. Enough of this Country Club cr@p.

Only those who are mentally slow haven't figured out that politics isn't played by Queensbury rules anymore...it's played by Chicago rules.

Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser.

Psalm 130 has been running through my head all day. I have been trying to get some comfort from it. I am going to need all of the help I can muster (biblical and otherwise) to get through the next 4 years. God help us all!

Out of the depths I cry to Thee;
Lord, hear me, I implore Thee!
Bend down Thy gracious ear to me;
I lay my sins before Thee.
If Thou rememberest each misdeed,
If each should have its rightful meed,
Who may abide Thy presence?

Thou grantest pardon through Thy love;
Thy grace alone availeth;
Our works could ne’er our guilt remove;
Yea, e’en the best life faileth.
For none may boast himself of aught,
But must confess Thy grace hath wrought
Whate’er in him is worthy.

And thus my hope is in the Lord,
And not in my own merit;
I rest upon His faithful Word
To them of contrite spirit.
That He is merciful and just,
Here is my comfort and my trust;
His help I wait with patience.

“People NEED to quit suggesting false alternatives.”

And just HOW is this a false alternative? The Republican party is being rebuked because it is a broken party who’s focus has strayed. It can fingerpoint all it wants at Democrap follys but until it finds it’s soul and fixes itself, greatness will remain out of reach.

I'd like to think we're bigger people than the angry and bitter left...

I'd like to think we can get out of the mindset that "losing the good fight" is OK...and I'd like to get out of the mindset of false alternatives.

Screw Queensbury.

Suit yourself. I’ll eat out less often as well. Remember, if you can’t afford to tip for good service, you can’t afford to eat in that restaurant.

Thank goodness, he gets it...

Principle is necessary, but insufficient, if one has to run against the left and the media.

The problem isn't just what we offer, it's the way we offer it.

Man, you got that right. No more legacy candidates, no more Ned Flanders types, no more pussified sons of rich guys or former politicians looking for something to do.

The left plays to win "by any means possible" and that's why they win.

That's PART of the problem. It's not the only problem.

We aren't going to win anything focused on part of the problem. Why do you think we can spend focus and energy on our shortcomings, or the RATs, but not both?

THAT is a false alternative. We can't afford not to address every area we can.

Is it lost on you that politics is a contest?
