WASHINGTON (AP) — Another state that hasn't voted for a Democrat for president in quite a while has done so this time.

The last time Indiana voted for a Democrat for president was when Lyndon Johnson was elected in 1964.

How in the he!! did Indiana go for Obama ? Born and raised there ! There should be an investigation into voter fraud ! I am thinking of the "region" or NW IN.

God help us !

Daniels won by a very large margin. He is a very popular republican governor. Fraud tickets would have voted straight party dem, wouldn’t you think?

If you check county by county, you would probably find that most (if not all) Indiana counties had a shift to (D) from (R) in the presidential race compared to 2004. Kerry won four (of 92) counties in 2004, Obama won 15.

Wrong, Palin energized the base. Tell me what you don’t like about her? And gosh, tell me who John should have picked?

Yea that is INSANE. I was at the election HQ downtown, and after Mitch won in a landslide, I figured IN safe for McCain. There MUST be something else that went through all those people’s heads to have split the ticket like that.

They voted for socialism on the Federal level, but are thrilled IN is doing so fantastically well under a real conservative.

Seriously, I’ll be pondering this for a long time.

It gets even better. It sounds like Indiana picked up one GOP seat in the Indiana House, getting the majority. Mitch wins big as does the GOP in SOS snd SOE races. The incumbant GOP congressmen all win big.

Yet.....they vote for a Marxist Socialist on the national level. Go figure Indiana. I contend that Hussein did not win the popular vote in Indiana. His win (by 23,000 votes) was secured by ACORN FRAUD in Lake County.

Really? I showed mine and signed where they indicated, all at the same time. Ours has been enforced pretty strictly. You should report that yours was not.

Welcome to FR. Now go back to your slime pit.

Sarah Palin is a conservative; not an “extremist”. We supported her because she IS a conservative. The problem was going with the “lesser of two evils” for the top spot; not picking a conservative to shore up the base.

Yea, but, honestly, 500k votes more for Mitch, and Zero wins by 28k ? Seems there’s 270k of people who split the ticket. Seems to much to be fraud related. I think people just blew a gasket this time around.

Well - 2-4 years of socialism and bad economy should cure enough of them of it by 2010.

Ah, another RINO heard from. Take your crap back to the socialist websites you came from back in October. This is and will remain a conservative site. If you don’t like the conservative message go elsewhere. We don’t need or want you. You’re not going to change our message and you will find your stay here extremely sad.

Commercials for obama where about 80 to 1. McCain ignored Indiana. The GOP started running commercials late in the game.

213,000 and some change split their votes for Presdident & Governor. I’ll bet that Hamilton County was the biggest offender. Carmel & Noblesville.

What really killed us was nominating a self-described maverick as the standard bearer and who actively campaigned against his own party. By doing that he alienated many Reps and hurt Reps down ticket.

Worse yet, he was faced with a choice in the final weeks, and he chose to salvage his own reputation over the good of the country.

In 1996, everybody knew Dole was going down, and they were able to salvage some of the downticket races by redeploying resources. Well, McCain's been toast for weeks (never mind their polite fiction about all the polls in Pennsylvania going their way), and yet nothing. Downticket races starved as the McCain campaign squandered its money. The difference is that Dole was a GOP man, and McCain was only interested in getting his vote totals as high as possible so his campaign would look less pathetic in the history books.

"Country First" is a sick joke. It was McCain first, McCain second, McCain third and the country could go to hell for all he cared.

I was a lurker beginning in the late 90s. I'm very familiar with the site.

Indiana is a special case.

The big issue there was ethanol subsidies, and McCain’s opposition to them.

Does anyone know the total ballots cast in Indiana for governor versus for the Presidential candidates?
