They told me they did not really like Obama and they would have voted for McCain if he would have had a more experienced VP pick.

I think it came down to resources. 0bama campaigned here a lot; he had a strong organization and his ads saturated the media. McCain barely had a presence. I live in Hamilton County, very conservative and very republican. 0bama signs were everywhere. His organization contacted people who had voted democrat in the primaries and put signs in their yards. 0bama’s organization did this because they could; they had the money to spend on it.
To some extent, I think McCain didn’t have the resources to match 0bama. The huge differential in campaign funds available made all the difference in outcome.
Political offices are a commodity; you get as many as you can afford.
I’d like to know what, exactly, is “extremist” about Sarah Palin.
People showed up to vote whom we’ve never seen before because they never bothered to get out and do it. One neighbor had not voted for 20 years. Obama motivated them.
Also, I heard at one point that ACORN had registered 105 percent of the Indianapolis population.
Just sayin’.

Mitch Daniels won by 500,000 votes.
McCain lost by 23,000 votes.

In addition to all the other reasons mentioned, Indiana is NOTORIOUS in splitting ballots. While that in itself in not necessarily bad, the political contrast between Hussein and Mitch Daniels is 180 degrees. With that, Indiana voters should be laughed at.
Lake County decided to do a brother a favor and give him just enough for the win. What was it, 2:30 in the morning before it was called? The marggins in most of the counties were not all that different from 2008.

Maybe so, but I heard the same thing from a few people in my lunch crowd. While purely antecdotal, I think it's unreasonable to dismiss this entirely out of hand.
What really killed us was nominating a self-described maverick as the standard bearer and who actively campaigned against his own party. By doing that he alienated many Reps and hurt Reps down ticket.
Interestingly, when you look at the total numbers cast in 2008, I will be surprised if they exceed the number in 2004. Bush beat Kerry 62 mmillion to 59 million. As of now, Obama is beating McCain about 62 million to 55 million. I wonder how much more we will exceed the 121 million combined votes in 2004.
In 2004 in Indiana about 2.5 million votes were cast compared to 2.7 million in 2008. I think this turnout hype turned out to be just that. Obama was able to energize his voters, but the Reps did not.
You have to remember the media had Obama plastered on every station and essentially worshipped him, while Palin came on the scene late and was viciously attacked out of the gates.
Sadly, people don’t see the bias, and sadly they get all they know from politics from people like Herr Olbermeister.
