The treatment President Bush has received from this country is nothing less than a disgrace.
The attacks launched against him have been cruel and slanderous, proving to the world what little character and resolve we have. The president is not to blame for all these problems.
He never lost faith in America or her people, and has tried his hardest to continue leading our nation during a very difficult time.
Our failure to stand by the one person who continued to stand by us has not gone unnoticed by our enemies.
It has shown to the world how disloyal we can be when our president needed loyalty -- a shameful display of arrogance and weakness that will haunt this nation long after Mr. Bush has left the White House.

How brutally, grievously true. I weep at the despicable, vitriolic abuse and attacks this good man has suffered all these years.
God bless and protect him and his dear family, and grant Pres. Bush the peace and certainty of how much all he's done and is doing is appreciated by millions and millions of grateful, decent Americans.
We won't see his likes again soon, and we will be the poorer and less safe for it.
It has been a disgrace on FR. He has gotten a pass on countless unconservative positions on FR, with enablers rationalizing every move. It's a disgrace, all right, but not the way you mean. And the results show it.
Funny this fellow mentions Harriet Miers. I’m sorry, but that woman had no place on the SC. Then his other picks were excellent.
So, this was the problem with Bush, he was inconsistent in the worst way.
And I agree with all the posters who are saying he did not defend himself. And that was the problem with Bush I also.
My hubby was saying last night that we should have listened to Jesse Jackson when he said “Stay out the Bushes!”
I’m not really wanting to bash Bush, but he really has left our party in a shambles.
I think the one thing that is clear is that “bipartisanship” is just another snare of the left and must be rejected at every turn.
And as for the media, well I don’t know what to do about that, because truly they are the enemy.
Starwise, I am not going to finish reading all of these comments, because the usual Bush-bashing from the right is here.
To all of you people who thought President Bush was so terrible, look who you have now. Enjoy the Marxist you helped elect.
It amazes me how people re-make history to their own liking. Does anyone remember that President Bush was far more conservative than most of his opponent, and certainly the most conservative person who could have been elected!
What about leading this nation after 9/11, successfully prosecuting two wars, lowering your taxes, appointing Roberts and Alito, and standing up for the Culture of Life? NOT ONE OF THESE THINGS WILL HAPPEN IN THE NEXT FOUR YEARS.
If Republicans and especially conservatives would see things as Ronald Reagan did (take what you can get and press on) we wouldn’t keep having these circular firing squads. When Bill CLinton was in horrible trouble most of the democrats rallied behind him. He managed to stay in office and is loved by a good portion of the country.
But President Bush has been treated so poorly by those who are on his side that I despair of his ever being credited for all the good he did. And he did a LOT.
What is wrong with people who can never see the good?
And the so called ‘movement’ conservatives joined in that relentless bashing of our President.
They too hope not to see the likes of this good man ever again.
Something I will not forget or forgive.
This is a plea from the left to NOT treat Obammy in a like manner. They are saying, “We are sorry. We made a mistake. Please don’t do to Obammy what we did to George!”
Pah!
Spot on! Kudos to the author for nailing it.
This has been my opinion for some time. I strongly supported defeating Obama but I was not supportive of Bush in ‘04. As the pile on started I got off because it was so obviously unfair. He was blamed for everything but one of the biggest problems is that he never defended himself in ‘04. As I got on his side in the later years of his Presidency I was disheartened that the arrogance that was there in his earlier years weren’t there to defend himself in the later years. I’m with you Bush until the moment you leave office. Please start defending your beliefs again
Though I have often disagreed with President Bush on domestic issues, and have been downright angry with him at times over them, I have held him in highest esteem in all other areas. He is a good man who took on an untenable responsibility at a terrifying time in our history. We have not been attacked since 9/11 and it is largely in part due to his efforts along with the courageous efforts of our military personnel. We owe a debt of gratitude and a respectful farewell to the man.
And stabbing his allies in the back for example refusal to move to the right and the recognition of narco state Kosovo and refusing to pardon the border agents and shut down the border among other things.
(((((Thank You for a ping to this! Starwise more Threads like this need to be posted:
LOVE*RESPECT*THANKS*REMEBER FONDLY My/Our Dear President Bush and !st Lady Laura!!)))))
They deserve these good things and more...Nothing less than good things/words/treatment etc...
Tried and True Pres. G W B & First Lady, L L B with unshakable,CHRISTian Faith and Character!! Class that’s no act!! They will be missed beyond measure!!))))
Yep, you got that right. From the day he became the GOP Candidate for president, a satanic warfare began over him and our country. While he was president, God blessed us. When the democrats began to take over, He didn’t. Put your faith and trust in Him and you can ride out the storm. Put your faith and trust in government, and you are lost, lost, lost.
As I heard one pundit say, though, he’ll go back to his ranch at Prairie Chapel, and be able to look himself in the mirror with the sure knowledge that he did everything he could do for this country, and did it with dignity and class. There aren’t many Democrats, and unfortunately, not a few Republicans who can say that.
Another egghead lawyer who thinks Bush was on the ballot and too many people buy into that nonsense. We lost because of McCain and his 2 year long concession speech.
President Bush is not responsible for the losses incurred last night. The GOP sat silent while the left defined the GOP. That’s why it lost.
Bush was out there busting his ass defending the party and the country from attacks from evil and the left, while conservatives who think they’re the smartest in the room ran for the tall grass.
Amen, STARWISE.
And, if you'll excuse me...I'm past skeptical...I'm cynical about lefties who have suddenly found religion about how the President is treated.
McCain decided it would be easier to join the anti-Bush bandwagon. McCain distanced himself from Bush at every possible chance. By doing so he ended up making the whole party look foolish.
Like I have said so many times in the dose, when history is written it will be very kind to President Bush
I have never seen vitriol like that which has been directed at Bush. This article is spot on, it is deeply shameful to a man that, whatever his shortcomings, has kept us safe for 7 1/2 years.
