So much for Rove's PERMANENT MAJORITY.....
....the Hispanic vote went big for Obama....
...New Mexico is no longer a red state.....
...Colorado and Arizona are trending left...
how will we ever win an election in the future?
Thank you George W. Bush and John Mccain for ruining our party with your open borders policy.
Remember, however, that massive (southern and Eastern) European immigration brought us the Dem majorities from the 1930s-1970s, so this is not unprecedented. Nevertheless, we will not truly see the real effects of the current wave of immigration on politics for another 15 years. What you have seen is the "greening" of suburbia and the secularization of American society (something I wish my religious friends would accept as fact). More than that, however, it was a volatile economy and frustration with Bush that ultimately damned McCain.
I would not be surprised to see a sharp rise in the 3rd party in the next 2 decades.
“Immigration has made us a Center-Left Country”
Nah! Ya think?
AIN’T DIVERSITY GREAT! Uncontrolled immigration just determined this election. Well, we ‘knuckle draggers’ tried.
Forget about the White House. Welcome to DIVERSITY house!

Obama to turn White House into Safe House for Illegal Immigrants
The new White House Safe House for illegal immigrants will go by the code name Auntie Zeitunis Pantry[snip]
The only saving grace will be watching the peace niks whine when he doesn’t bring home the troops.
And it shows you how stupid the American people are when this economic crisis was caused by the Democrats and IMO I think George Soros had a hand in this.
“Not just Hispanics voting Dem....but voting in rather MASSIVE majorities. I guess they miss their socialist homes.”
Hispanics have traditionally embraced socialism, and eagerly.
immigration isn’t the problem. see mexico is just not getting anything back for the mexicans that are here.
what we need to do is export one housing project population to mexico for every ten illegals that run across our border. we would never have another rat elected to national office again
In the past, I've tended to be libertarian on these issues, but facts are stubborn things and the fact is that no amount of pandering to Hispanics on immigration translates to votes for limited government. As far as I can tell, it just boils down to which party is going to write out the bigger check.
Low European birthrates mean that we won't be seeing any wave from Europe anytime soon.
“I blame the Kennedy family for this with the immigration reform bill in the 60âs which basically increased immigration from 3rd world countries while limiting Europeans!”
—that was the Immigration Act of 1965 under Lyndon Johnson. And yes - it probably was the beginning of the end...
...glad someone mentioned the immigration “reform” act of the 60s....that was the one that allowed chain immigration thru the family re-unification provision....it was the beginning of the left’s full scale assault on the Anglo-European/Judeo-Christian culture....the culture that made America sucessful....the more 3rd world people that come, the more they pull America down....parts of our once great cities now look more like street scenes straight out of Blade Runner
Well...if you really want to look at “rut” causes, you have to look at contraception and abortion.
“McCain showed his pandering stupidity in supporting illegal aliens and refusing to build a border wall in hopes that would help him with Hispanics. Hispanics still voted for Obama 3 to 1.
McCain also pandered to the environmentalists by supporting Global Warming laws - that got him zero votes as well.”
_____________
Prediction please. Do you think he regrets it? Do you think he’s learned anything? Do you think he’ll admit it?
I thank him for giving us Sarah Palin, the only bright spot in this stinking election.
OMG..Peggy Noonan’s on now with Couric. I can’t take it....
I hope none of you ever forget who these traitorous Rino’s have been.
“I would not be surprised to see a sharp rise in the 3rd party in the next 2 decades.”
Something has to happen. I just don’t know who the leaders would be. The media is going to marginalize them then destroy them. We have to do something about the media.
Actually that was the day the Whiskey Act was passed.

That had more to do with in-migration than immigration. The great age of white flight was actually in the 1960s and 1970s.
Besides, as I pointed out before, it was Jewish and Catholic ethnic pols/leaders who led the push for liberalization of immigration laws, as the quotas of the 1920s arguably discriminated against southern and eastern Europeans.
I favor an immigration policy that favors the educated and the skilled over all others, regardless of racial or national origin. Better a Korean doctor or Indian businessman than the slovenly and stupid of all races, politics be damned.
“I would not be surprised to see a sharp rise in the 3rd party in the next 2 decades.”
I’ll be 58 on my next birthday. I am a cancer patient. I don’t hold out a lot of optimism that I’ll be around in 20 years. I had hoped, though, to at least die while America was still a free country, but I fear it is headed for fascism, and I live smack dab in the belly of the beast (Illinois). I think I’ll cash it all in an sell the house and move back to Dixie where people still prize liberty and individuality, and make my final stand there.
The story tonight is - Rust Belt Seniors with traditional views on race decided they hate Republicans more than minorities.
There goes the Brady Effect. The McCain camp and some Freepers hoped that the undecideds were really people who were afraid to admit their preference for McCain. It turns out that the undecideds had qualms with both candidates. The economy pushed them over the edge to Obama.
Honesly, GWB has been a disaster as CINC. We came this close to losing Iraq because he listened to Rumsfeld and gave our commanders enough troops to hold Iraq, but not to win. The surge made things better, but we’ll see how it pans out longer term. This was the guy who SHRUNK the military after 9/11, of all things and told young men to go shopping instead of enlisting.
On immigration, spending, prescription drugs for seniors and a whole host of other issues, GWB screwed up. The $890B Wall Street bailout was the icing on the cake. The only thing I think he did right was to improve Homeland Security—at least there hasn’t been another 9/11.
Honestly, I think the GOP is destined to be a weak sister party going forward. The Dems and their allies in the MSM and Academica will make it all but impossible for Republicans to be in the majority again. Their weapons will be unrestricted immigration, socialism, judicial activism, and control of the media and educations sytems. Except for some Internet blogs and forums like FR, we are done.
Sorry for the pessimism, but tonight our country drank the liberal kool-aid. We are fooling ourselves if we think otherwise.
I won't bother saying we told you so. There's no satisfaction in it.
“I also place half the blame however, on our base, when you abandon your leadership (as openly as our base did) you tarnish your parties (brand) image. Especially for the non-afflicated masses......and thus with the GOP image tarnished......We end up putting up a huge RHNIO in McCain”
You jest of course. What do you think we had with Bush? We had a RINO. A big spending, all compassion, no conservative RINO. McCain was just like Bush only worse. The base was right about Bush, and right about McCain, not wrong. Bush was an acorn too close to the tree (Bush Sr.) and McCain was chosen as our candidate by the MSM. The base who saw through both Bush and McCain were right. The Freepers who supported these two were wrong. And look where it has gotten us. Or should I say who ... Obama.
