Carrie Underwood Loses Respect for Stars Who Endorse a Candidate

Country singer Carrie Underwood may seem like America’s sweetheart, but just make sure you don’t ask her who she is voting for in this year’s presidential election.

“There is someone I do support, but I don’t support publicly,” gossip Web site Just Jared quotes Underwood as telling TV Guide.

“I lose all respect for celebrities when they back a candidate,” she said. “It’s saying that the American public isn’t smart enough to make their own decisions.”

The American Idol alum added that she would never want “anybody to vote for anything or anybody just because I told them to.”

Good for Carrie!

I recall Alice Cooper saying something along those lines, too. It's a shame more celebrities can't take Laura Ingraham's advice to 'shut up and sing'.

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal." - Alice Cooper

Oh the irony.

Not Tony Romo’s problem. Carrie has switched boy toys more than 3 times already this year (accdg to my GF who reads the rags) so it could be her.

Then again, she’s smokin and smart enough to keep her politics to herself.

I love the actor Alan Arkin, and I remember in 2000 someone asked him who he supported or what his philosophy was, and his response was something like "why can't I just say I don't know - I'm not well-informed enough?"

Earned a lot of respect for him as a citizen, already had great respect for his acting skills.

Edna...love the screen name.

Both,

If CU supports Hussein, she is absolutely doing the right thing by being quiet about it. Bless her for having more sense than the liberal HACKS in her field, particularly McGraw and Hill.

No wonder she is running circles around them--she is more talented and, as evidenced by these remarks, smarter.

Sugarland went down a notch in my book when they decided to sing at the Democrat ObamaFest in Denver.

We like her too. She's a very talented woman, with a good head on her shoulders.
