My little town of 5,000 or so...
It’s a red town in a red state (Alabama). There is a significant black population that makes up a little under 20%.
The town has 3 polling places. That splits to about 1,600 per precinct. At 1:45 pm, I was the 970th voter! Now, consider that most folks work and won’t be in to vote until later, this is extraordinary! The election workers told me it has been the same at the other two locations.
I think when all is said and done, almost every eligible voter in my town will have voted. Except for the minority vote (which is sad, as many of these folks are my friends), this town is solidly McCain/Palin.
An odd happening today as a friend and I were walking across a park. A well dressed black man was lying unconscious and bloody in our path. We called 911 and waited until the ambulance arrived. Kind of shook me. Well, it is going to be dark in an hour, so I better get out and vote. Will report on my blue state, mid Atlantic urban precinct when I return.
Please, please, please deliver VA for McCain-Palin.
I walked my absentee ballot to the small school that has served as our local Polling Place for years here in suburban SoCal. For the first time ever no American Flag was posted at the door. Maybe an oversight but I didn’t ask as that act may now constitute a hate crime.
It was 1030 AM PST, traffic was light.
Northeast Pa, a traditional red area of PA. We arrived at polling location 7:30 this morning. Did not get out of there until 10:00am. Compare this to what I thought was a large turnout in 2004 when we waited an hour to vote. Discussions while waiting to vote, and just a quick snapshot of cars with bumper stickers looked like 2-1 in McCains favor. I’ve been in Pa since 1991 and this is the first time I really feel we are going to take it. I also feel Murtha and Kanjorski are going to lose. Wouldn’t that be nice

The wife and I just voted. We live in Nebraska. Nebraska was one of a handful of states that had zero blue counties on the 2000/2004 presidential maps. 100% red. There was no line and no waiting, our names were on the voter roles. The lady that took my completed ballot said “Make sure you get an I voted sticker”. I replied that I got one earlier today when I voted, she didn’t think it was funny.
Voted red precinct. Very light, but on the voter roles, about 70% had already voted early. This was Texas. Electronic ballots. After I finished, a notification came up that said, “Voters who voted for this candidate bought these items on Amazon.com.”
We had early voting last week and over 2 million voters cast their ballots in Georgia prior to today. I voted after lunch today and was in and out in ten minutes. No irregularities. My county is exceptionally efficient and predominantly conservative.
Voted in Marion County, Indiana today. Hubby went with me. Very good turnout. The polling place is a school. One of the kids walked by and kind of hollered out, “Barak Obama.” I politely said, “No, don’t think so.” Hubby punched me on the arm lightly and told me to knock if off and behave myself.
After voting, told Andre Carson’s campagin staffer why Andre didn’t get my vote. She was polite but didn’t really want to hear me out. I made her anyway. Told her I was disgusted with his vote on the bailout and believed he would support the killing of free speech by the reimplimentation of the Fairness Doctrine. (Am awaiting an IRS audit soon.).
Otherwise, No fuss, no muss.
Voted in Santa Rosa, CA (a rural area about 1 hr north of San Francisco) about 10 a.m. Had to stand in line for a couple of minutes! I’ve never had that happen before. Also, two different people in the parking lot asked me where the voting area was. Never had that happen before, either. Says “newbie voter” to me. The local rag was predicting a 90% turnout for Sonoma County. McCain won’t win here, of course, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for Prop 8, which would place a definition of marriage as between one man and one woman in our state constitution.

Any update on how the poor guy is doing?
No huge lines but the traffic was brisk. I asked a poll worker about the turnout and she said it's the best she's seen in a very long time.
No update on the poor man’s condition. I called before in a similar health emergency and they wouldn’t even tell me if the poor person was alive or dead. If I wander past the fire station in a few days and talk with someone who recognizes me I might learn something; or if the guy dies and it makes the news.
I went and voted at 4:30 pm. No lines, about 10 or 12 people working, and slightly more at various spots in the voting process. One electronic machine and 5 or 6 booths for paper ballots. Outside I BSed with various candidates, workers and my councilman’s trouble shooter. Went back in at 5:45 and 1,535 paper ballots had been counted. I asked what the ratio of paper to electronic ballots might be and it was suggested about 4:1. Asked the total vote population for the precinct. It was guessed about 4,000. At a number of other elections I have been there in the afternoon and only a few hundred had voted. A blue precinct.
Although I haven't seen as many signs as were here in the past, nevertheless, I have seen only two McCain signs in the entire town, and at least 100 for Obama.
Voted at 1:30 in upstate NY (Clifton Park). No lines, about 5 to 4 Republican to Democrat. In and out in 5 minutes. My district was at 376 votes at that point. Most in this area voted early morning or will vote after work.
red or blue
Imponderable. "Downstate" Illinois, which is normally red, but I'm seeing far too many His O-ness signs.
I was voter 58, at 7am this morning. No paper trail -- a scanner looked over my sheet, and dropped it into a locked box. I can't even tell if my vote registered properly.
My wife voted midday, said there was a line, which means it's a busier election day than normal.
I got to my polling place at around 8:30 and finally got to vote a little after 9:00 am, I am in Tennessee, but I am pretty sure my precinct is purple or *gasp* blue. I saw a guy with an 0bama cap, the black poll workers didn’t say anything to him. The crowd was about 50% black and/or young people, the rest middle aged white and older, near as I can tell it was probably 50/50 at that time, in an area that if the pundits are right would have been 70/30. I was the 44th voter at my machine if those numbers are average then there were about 176 votes by 9:00 am.
