I guess the media was doing its job better in 1984, since I believe Reagan only lost MN.

The actual result will be closer to the opposite, from the numbers on Rasmussen and RCP.

McCain 510 Electoral Votes, Obama 28 … How the Map Looked Exactly 2 Years Ago
SurveyUSA Breaking News - 8 hours ago

Exactly two years ago, SurveyUSA completed interviews with 600 voters in every state (30,000 total interviews), asking them how they would vote in a 2008 Presidential Election between John McCain and Barack Obama. Based on those interviews, SurveyUSA was able to report that:

In November 2006, Obama carried …

1. His home state of Illinois.
2. His birth state of Hawaii.
3. The District of Columbia.

In November 2006, Obama got 28 total electoral votes.

In November 2006, John McCain carried 48 states, and rolled up 510 electoral votes.

How far has Barack Obama come in 24 months?

We’ll know for sure Tuesday night.

Thought provoking, to say the least.

What the mind can achieve must first be perceived.

If we build it, they will come....Right?

Reagan barely lost MN, loser Mondale's home state.

He also lost the welfare District of Columbia. But they elect crackheads there.

That was one pretty electoral map.

It's a joke. Do you honestly think Massachusetts would go Republican?

In 1984 Massachusetts was the ONE state that went for Mondale.

McCain’s campaign has been less than stellar. The media was biased and carried 0bama’s water... but they were biased against Bush in 2004, even forged documents to make him look bad.. but Bush ran a flawless campaign.

I was wrong. Minnesota was the one state.

If there's a blowout tonight, it will more likely be Blue than Red. For some reason, Blue States are resistant to in roads by GOP candidates. The converse doesn't appear to hold true for Red States. We need only to lose three or four of the Bush States from 2004 to be in a world of trouble.

Bush needed only another point or two in the national popular vote to have turned 2004 into an electoral vote landslide. Soooo many close states just barely went to Kerry...

There will be plenty of time for post mortems later, but really... these last four years have been a waste, apart from Alito and Roberts on the Supreme Court...

Current AOL straw poll, up since 10/31 doesn’t look much different than the Survey USA 2 years old. http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/09/18/aol-straw-poll-sept-18-25/

Whoops. Gave the wrong week on the AOL Straw Poll. But the results are about the same for the 10/31 - 11/4 poll.
