A masked man waving an American flag and holding a handgun on a Santa Barbara freeway overpass has shut down Highway 101 for nearly two hours.
Police Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte says the man is on the La Cumbre Avenue overpass wearing a ski mask and brown fatigues. He's waving an American flag in one hand and a handgun in the other.
No shots have been fired.
The freeway has been shut down in both directions...The police special weapons team and a crisis negotiation team is on the scene.

What I find disturbing (and I know this is pretty anal and petty considering the man is clearly unstable) is that he lets it drag on the ground. Out of respect the flag is not ever supposed to touch the ground. He clearly is not making a conservative political statement, because if he was he would be showing respect for the flag and not just waving it and then dragging it.
If he has PTSD or his mind has snapped, I don’t imagine proper flag protocol is way up on his list of priorities right now....:(
He's also a disturbed individual. Standing over a freeway overpass waving a weapon is not something a normal thinking person does.
They know he's very disturbed...That's why they haven't killed this guy yet...

The flag looks so cool and the picture on the tv has the officers (SWAT) watching nearby as they respectfully watched and are letting him mount his flag and will take him in immediately. It is sort of touching.
